Developments over the last few months has lead many to believe that Serbia & Montenegro will be getting a new airline, that will serve as an alternative to JAT Airways, Montenegro Airlines, and Aviogenex. The airline will be based in the city of Nis, and will be known as Aero Nais. To begin with, the company will aquire one Fokker 100 for 7,5 million dollars from Holland. The initial flights will link Nis with destinations such as Zurich, Istanbul, and Northern Italy. The decision to go ahead with the formation of this airline falls in hand with the fact that JAT has not included Nis on its regular flight schedule for this summer as earlier expected.

Just as a reminder, Nis Airport was re-opened for regular traffic close to the end of last year.

Here is a detailed article regarding the new company. Sorry, that the text is not in English.

U “Aero Naiss-u” planiraju nabavku novih letilica.

It will definately be interesting, given the fact that Nis was starved of regular flights since 1998 and 1999.

I am glad the new company did not go overboard with their expectations, and the usual crap you would hear from the dreamers. Moreover, I hope the new livery is not characteristic of the common charter airlines, and brings in more colour to the industry!

Perhaps thats too muchto expect, but at least i tried  Smokin cool

JU101,

You mention Aviogenex, do they still operate? I remember that before the war they probably had 3 B727s and a 737 but I thought they were leasing their aircraft to other companies now.

Can you please give some info? Are they operating out of Beograd?

Thanks.

I have to say Serbian aviation can be very confusing at times. JAT has three different colour schemes right now (the nice one, the all-white, and the new one). Not to mention that planes are leased by JAT and Aviogenex all over the place. To set things straight, JAT has a fleet of 25 operational aircraft, and Aviogenex 4.

Aviogenex should have two 722s operating in Indonesia, and a 732 in Cambodia. The third 722 should remain with Aviogenex and do holiday charters to the Adriatic coast and Turkey.
