Online Seat Bookings For Short Haul..

Why don't BA and QF let you book a seat online for short haul flights?
Is it because they are likely to change the aircraft type at short notice?

With US Airways internal flights, they were changing the airplane type used every day and it only stopped changing 2 days before the flights

LH doesn't let you book a seat on EU flights even a day before the flight, and even if you phone their contact center...

If you're in the BA Exec club you can check in up to 24hrs before departure online and reserve any seat you like.

Did it for BHX-CDG on a 146 a while back, as the first to check in you get pretty much the whole ac to choose from!

Can u book 24 hours before a QF flight if you are a QF Frequent flyer member?
