After watching a documentary about Devil's Island, I fantasized about going to French Guyana.
I live halfway between IAD and EWR.
After a few (wonderful) hours on the web, I gave up. Flying to Cayenne (2456nm) is ridiculously circuitous and ruinous too. Apparently, the easiest way is to transfer through Paris!
I couldn't get the information I needed from Suriname Airways and the likes, so I kept trying with the majors, hopping from San Juan to Martinique and so on...
It would be much cheaper and much faster to fly to, say, Taipei (6834nm).
I've flown thousands of miles and I can tell you it's a lot safer than crossing the street!
