It's probably been brought up before, but which airline is the world's dirtiest?
For me, it's between Air France and Iberia.
Here are a couple of classic examples...

I'm not sure what the big deal is about dirty aircrafts, but what really gets on my nerve is aircrafts that don't get a paint job. I think it just gives a bad impression of what you might get if you were to board the aircraft...For example...
Check Su-gbp when it was newly painted from Boeing...
That's just an one example. Another carrier example is US airways and their 767-200. I can't find a good picture but I 'm sure all of you know what I'm talking about.

I fly with IB regularly and have also noticed their lack of cleanliness on the exterior of their aircraft. Its sad to see their beautiful fleet taxi by the terminal windows at Barajas with even the rubber boot marks from the air bridges around the doors on the fuselages. Why do they find it so hard to keep their aircraft clean? The interiors are always spotless I might add.

AF WINS THIS ONE BY A LANDSLIDE!!!! IB has certain sections that are always dirty...as to AF...it's the whole aircraft!!!
Twinjets...if one fails, work the other one twice as hard!!!

AF has its entire fleet dirty, while
IB seems to only have its A340 with marks from the jetbridge. The rest of the fleet looks fine, even its old 747-200's.

The world's dirtiest airline, IB or AF?? You must be joking!! Without looking at a particular photo here, I would invite you to look at pictures of Ghana Airways, UTA, Vladivostok Aviation, etc. I am sure you find planes that are dirtier, not only from the outside.

FLYSSC,
NO. Nothing about NW DC9's either !
LOL. Good one.
C'mon everyone. Really, who cares. I guess AF was saving up to buy KLM, right?
cheers

i know this topic should be stopped, but i believe it says A LOT about an airline if they can't keep the exterior of the planes clean.
compare AF with QF - the latter being much much cleaner.
i think IB and AF should clearly lift their standards... its like having dirty clothes - IT LOOKS BAD...
we should start a petition and send it to IB & AF!

Naturally, you are a QF fan harping on their cleanliness (exterior) at least twice in this thread.
Although dirty planes may look...er dirty, it is hardly the reason anyone decides to fly them or not. It does not say anything about the airline's service, on time performance, profitability etc. If you are interested only in aesthetics of the fleet and not the genuine parameters that define a good airline, then you won't fly them. But bear in mind that you are part of a small minority who wouldn't, and regretfully, missing out on the chance to travel on one of Europe's finest airlines.
cheers

Ok, AF's planes are dirty - from outside. So what about interieur?
Is that dirty, too?
"Most" of passengers travel inside a plane and so that's much more important, I think. Also AF has very modern and economical fleet and that counts. Who cares about clean/dirty planes, when there comes sh** out of the engines?
Airlines have to save money - AF maybe saves some money in washing planes. Have seen a movie about 1st "Plane Wash - saloon" in NRT. Cleaning a plane costs thousands and takes lots of time.
So if AF only saves money in washing their planes and doesn't save money in Maintenance, that's ok for me.

interesting subject.. theres Delta 757 that I see every now and then that is the uglest plane ive every seen.. I dont think it's dirt just lack of paint. Im curious as to how an airline washes the exterior of a plane.. a bucket and sponge?

According to literature from LH they keep their planes spotless for one main reason. A clean exterior is lighter and more aerodynamic efficient. My experience with AF was completely dirty. The y class cabin was tidy but not particurly clean, shabby fabrics etc. BTW, CDG restrooms were FILTHY!!!!

No. but he will buy the A330 as the Air Force Tanker. No wonder European leaders from Old Europe are supporting him.

I wonder how these topics can turn into discussions about US Presidential candidates/incumbents.
Anyway, I doubt that Kerry will buy Airbus, unless Boeing does not change their blatantly obvious strategy to let the US government pay for the 7E7 and various other programs.

well, at least we could rest assured that the president would be safe...El Al planes are probably equipped as good or better than AF One. ...and that's an interesting though--is there information out there (like an official press release) on El Al's airplane defense systems? We know they have them but is that hush hush?

All right, getting back to topic.
the dirtiest plane I have ever flown is Garuda CityLink F28. Everything is falling apart and you are just so happy when you have survived the flight.
@EAL757
I am not sure that's what Spike was saying in her posting.

In IB, the main dirt is located in door nÂș2 on the A343's by the "finger" touch.
Warren, please...can you explain us what thing is the "Old Europe".What do you mean by that?Have we a lot of History?because this is the right answer.Another thing have not any sense.
