My mom just called me from FLL T1, she is flying on Continental 400 to EWR, departing at 5:15
The entire terminal just got evacuated due to a suspicious passenger (Terminal 1- Southwest, jetBlue, Continental, Northwest, America West) and the new security line, for those of you farmiliar with FLL, is snaking all the way up to the ticketing level, back outside, into the parking garage and up to level 2!
Screening is being done by flight apparently and they are calling out flights for people to get screened for, flights being called in the order of closest departure times. Right now they are priority screening a jetBlue flight to JFK.

If it turns out to be another dumb false alarm, I feel sorry for the poor passenger. That place even on a calm day looks like a crime scene, there is a cop every 10 meters and and the other day even the Bomb Squad SUV.

They cannot panic over every little thing and they may very well need to overhall TSA's work forces in able to make things more efficient there.
Normally, I'd agree, but in this case, the Air And Sea Show is in town and the airport is at its Code Orange Security levels (minus the vhecial checks and parking lot restrictions), so this is a case where no threat should be overlooked.

Sometimes and I can't explain why some paxs find ways around screening points (breach) and end up on the restricted side. I don't know if this is what happened, but it sounds like it. When someone gets through without being screened they are considered dirty and this can affect the sterile area. If this happens then a full re-screening has to be done.

I was in FLL flying back to kennedy on saturday. I was in the delta terminal and I saw how long the security line was. I was in complete shock, The line extended back pretty far, infact I couldnt even see the end of the line. I skipped the entire line though by flashing my gold medallion card. They did however conduct a chemical test on all laptops (including mine)
