Although I've not yet been on an A340 I think the A330 looks better anyhow.

I've always associated 4 engines with the B747.

A330 looks the best, but I prefer to travel on A346.

For me, it's the same answer for both questions: A340-300.

Although, considering the looks, the A330 isn't really far behind... but in terms of being a passenger on one of both: definitely A340.

From a looks standpoint they are both terrific! Can't decide which one I like best.

I've only flown on each twice, which really isn't much to go on, but both were great. The A340 was quieter though. I hope I get to fly on them more, but if my limited experience on them is any indication, it's a choice between 2 great aircraft!

cheers, Ralph

For some reason, the A330 looks more graceful, especially when landing. It resembles some king of large bird, like a swan, gently touching down....

I don't think there are big difference from a pax point of view between 332/333 and 342/343. But I wonder how the 345 is. The 346 is just GREAT and my favorite!

Both airplanes are great. A340 because of its 4 engines and also because I've traveled more on A340 than A330... but the A330 looks great too.
What about you Roberta ?

Althou I have never travelled on the A330, I prefer the A340, I have flown on the A340 many times and it is a faily capable aircraft, quite, yet "slow" and I do seem to bump my head a lot.

I think the A330 looks better physically. As for choice of travel I really wouldn't care, the cabins are virtually the same, depending on airline.

The A340-500 looks the best, but from a passenger point of view probably the A340-200 or A340-600.

The A340-200 looks great. Other versions look too long, remember those outrageously stretched DC-8's? For me it has to be the A342 in SAA colours.

The A330-200. Beautiful and graceful-looking plane. The A340 just look silly with those tiny engines on the pre-300 series.

Not been around for awhile, but this thread caught my eye.

From a front seat point of view, a Trent powered 332 is a gorgeously endearing and impressive piece of kit, able to outclimb virtually anything at max weight; a huge advantage for the company bean counters when you get the desired route at the optimum level at the requested time.

As for the 342/3, what amazes me is that the damn thing is always right; human impulse might sometimes decide on a different level, a different rate of climb or a different way to respond to a situation, but at the end of every sector, I am constantly surprised at the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the thing.

But for pure enjoyment, the 332 wins hands down.............

If only I could give you a 3-way comparison with the 346............... ,-)

Haven't flown on the A340 yet but I assume it's very similar to the A330 in that respect.

However, in terms of looks, the A330 blows away the competition. No question about it. It's so much more graceful and sleek than anything else in the sky.

Personally, I think the A330 of both models looks better than the A340 of all models. However, I'd rather fly on board the A340 for a vaguely quieter cabin and a longer more peaceful flight.

Well Bob, what's the score.

28 Airways6max : It's a toss-up. The A340 is basically a -330 but with two extra engines. The larger versions of the -340 lack the charisma and presence of the 747.
29 YoungDon : I'd pick the A340, I'm really tired of twins, its all about those quadruplets!!
