I'll be going to HKG in june on MH and CX. On my way to HKG, I will make a stop for one week in Malaysia. I intend to stay in Penang. I've purchased my international tickets already, now I'm going to purchase the domestic tickets, from a different source (becaused it worked out cheaper). Here are the questions.
Flight MH21, arrives at 06.45AM from CDG into KUL. MH has morning flights to PEN at 7.35, 9.15 and 10.45 Obviously there will be no time to take the 7.35 flight. How about the 9.15? Bear in mind that I will have to collect my luggage upon arrival in KUL and need to go to the domestic terminal to recheck.
Can I, with 2 separately purchased tickets, but on the same airline, check my luggage in CDG all the way to PEN?
Will MH rebook me on a later flight in case the CDG flight arrives late in KUL? Even if I travel on 2 different tickets (but on the same airline)?

I believe you can check your luggage through to PEN. It will be absurd if they don't and the staff at CDG should be able to provide your KUL-PEN boarding pass as well.

Yes - Malaysia Airlines will check you all the way through to Penang and most probably issue your boarding pass for your connecting flight as its a straight forward domestic transfer. You must present your KL-Penang ticket at CDG though and just make sure by telling them to check your luggage directly through to Penang. Have a good flight...

Odie and Mas777,
Thanks for the information and advice. I'm looking forward to fly on Malaysian Airlines (awarded with 'best cabin crew', by skytrax ) So, I suppose the 9.15AM flight from KUL to PEN, will be no problem to catch up with, when coming in at 6.45AM from CDG.
