Why on earth would they sub a 343 for a 738--no other smaller equipment available I guess? Man, there would have to be a LOT of empty seats on that thing right--even if the 738 was sold out---?

They used to fly L1011s into YYZ didnt they?

Hey,

Yeah the plane must be really empty. I just hope they put the A340 into their summer schedule for YYZ-POS so I can go down with it. They dont have any other equipment besides the A340 and 738 and Dash 8. A long time ago they use to fly the L-1011's into Toronto.

Regards,

BWIA330

Probably one or more of their 738s have gone mx, thus requiring the sub.
The Apr. 29th 343 was JIL, complete with blue engines. I am heading out past the airport at 2PM. If she's there I will nab a pic of it.

Cheers,
Kaz

It actually departed at 13:50...nice sight...sorry no pics.

I think the L1011 looks better than the 343 in these colours

I would have gone to see it if I had the chance. Hopefully it will be back again soon. We need some BWIA people to let us know what's going on!  Smile

According to FlyteComm it arrived just before midnight last night as flight 604. I went out to get a picture this afternoon, but not only was I too late, but I found that I didn't have a memory card in my camera - so I couldn't even take a picture of the KLM 777 that landed as I was leaving. GRRRRR!!

Apparently I was told that the BWIA has enough traffic on the YYZ route that using the 340 would not be a waste of money. JIL has 255 seats that is just 6 more seats that the 249 L1011s that BWIA operated on the same route.

Well, hopefully that means the A340 will be a more regular visitor to YYZ if that is the case. Perhaps, BWIA needs an aircraft sized in between the 737 and the A340. How about an A330-200?  Smile

TJN made the trip yesterday. It was parked right next to 9Y-BGI which was doing the BW606/607. It was indeed a nice sight to see the 340 and 738 together at YYZ. I took a pic when TJn was pushing back but it is no airliners.net material. JIL was also here last week. I think they are making it a weekly thing bringing the 340 into YYZ when the aircraft is not doing the MAN runs.

Captingomes

The A340 seems to be an ok fix for BWIA, but I think that the airline should look at the 777 or 7e7 but that is just dreaming. The 340 are here to say so I guess we have to cherish the fact that the BWIA fleet is modern although we miss our MD80s and L1011s dearly.

When is T&T going to get back stat 1 status so that the A340 can be put on the JFK and MIA routes during peak periods.

Does BWIA plan to go back into Continental Europe and how is the weekly direct flight from POS to LHR going.
