I read somewhere on the net that JETBLUE wanted to buy the PAN AM name and logo before it commenced flying. Does anyone have more information on this. NOTE: That this is not a rumour it is true fact...... Can a JETBLUE fan please advise.

I wish JETBLUE adopted that logo! It would be Great.

I think the panam name carries too much baggage for a little upstart airline to use.

Well, that didn't stop Panam III from going ahead and using it  Laugh out loud

I personally prefer the JetBlue brand for some reason - to me PA, as an airline name, sounds more like an old conservative dinosaur, which would really be against the fresh & 'hip' spirit that B6 has.

From what I heard this was never going to be used. New Air, Taxi, Griffen Airways...those were just a few brainstormed but never Panam from my knowledge...

That is not true. The current Pan Am has had the name and logo secured since the demise of Pan Am II. (aka Pan Am / Carnival)

Jet Blue was originally called New Air and that was temporary until the final name could/would be selected.

Can someone update me why Pam Am went down in the first place?
Is it due to that plane bomb or soemthing else?
When did they finish?
Also what class did they offer on their planes

CX123, you'd be better off to start a new thread- that is not the subject of this one.
I also heard that jetBlue was to be called "Dairy-air," and I think that THAT would have been hilarious! Like, derrier??? Get it??? Hahahahahaha.

I think the reason that they didn't call it Pan Am is because there is already a small start-up airline that uses the name and logo. It is called:
Pan Am-Boston Maine Airways that only flies up in the northeast USA around the New England area. It flies mainly from Boston-Logan to Maine and smaller states up in that area.

Actually ... it almost was Virgin Blue but Branson couldn't change US ownership law so Vblue went Aussie and NewAir became JetBlue

Boston Maine Airways and Pan Am are diferent airlines but flight with the same logo. They have two bases one on PSM and other at Puerto Rico BQN-Aguadilla.

If that is true, I am glad they chose NOT to use Pan Am's name.

Although the airline has a lot of history associated with it, it also seemed to have a ridiculous number of disasters involving it, so I do not think it would have fared well with passengers.

I would like to see the old Pan Am return...but with a better safety record.

Besides the whole blue thing is kinda "cute."
