Hi!
Austrian Arrows ordered Fokker 100 from American Airlines, the first one should arrive within the next days in Vienna... But that order makes me thinking about Austrian's standards... Why do they order that old planes? I think they never orderes older aircraft... How much of them did Austrian order? What are the safety standards of it?
Thanks for all replies...
Greetings,
Martin

There are a lot of them standing in the desert, so I am sure they got a good price and they are only 10 years old, so why not?
They also fit nicely to the F70.
The only funny thing is that when they ordered the MD-87 (the aircraft that will be replaced by the F100s) Austrian was still partner of Swissair and all the aircraft purchases were coordinated, but you remember what aircraft SR ordered those days?......yes F100.

American takes good care of their F100's so Austrian is definitely not getting a used and abused aircraft. Considering I saw three F100 leave the fleet last week alone more a coming available for anyone who is interested.

I flew on an ex-American Airlines F100 bird a weekend ago (Helvetic from VIE to ZRH) and I can say it looks good interieur grey leather and much more seat pitch than expected - well they can change it but why not using it like it stand in the desert very comfortable bird
Btw. it doesn't look like that Helvetic change anything in the interieur except the head rests ("Laeusefaenger")

I also think that Austrain Arrows plans to order the Rekkof NextGeneration Fokker 100 to either replace of supplment the models.

OS have ordered the F100' as MD87 replacements. Since the F70 and F100 have much in-common,including the engine type,it made sense to take the x AA F100's for fleet mix.
