JUST FOR FUN, how much would you roughly pay a 20-day tour flying aboard a CHARTERED IL-18 or IL-62 (for 15 days) with 20 NIGHTS’ HOTEL and RAMP ACCESS, routing: Moscow (5 days in Moscow, visiting the various airports)-Novosibirsk- Almaty-Bishkek-Tashkent-Dushanbe-Ashgabat-Sharjah-Tehran-Baku-Yerevan-Tbilisi-Kishinev-Kiev (the two airports)-Minsk-Moscow? It’s difficult to answer, of course, but if I had the money I’d probably be willing to pay 2,000-3,000 pounds.

On a russian liner eh?
The question is, How much would THEY pay ME to fly on that?
Allow me to elaborate.
Not that I am hateful to Russians as they are a very good people, but their aircraft just scare the hell out of me. I have heard stories about them, and whether they are true or not, I do not want to find out. They look rather shabby on the interiors, and the planes don't look very clean so that kind of turns me away. They look like Cheap copies of Boeings.

The problem is not the aircraft... I would love to fly on a IL-62, but if it involves Russia and staying in Russia, forget it. I had the opportunity of visiting Russia in 1998 and to my pleasure, I could see how people broke the windows of one bank and took everything in it. Of course, after the Ruble was devaluated 200% (at that moment) and an economic crisis, the bank went bankrupt, so it was an obvious reaction, but a pretty scary one...
I will pay to fly CU's IL-62 from MEX-HAV. That would be excellent...

I'd love to do a tour like that! I'd also love to pay about £6.32 to do it, but I'm guessing it would cost me a bit more than that! Personally though, I'd prefer to try out a various selection of Russian aircraft and airlines rather than doing the whole tour on the same charter.

I would love to fly on the il-62 just once.Even though i am russian and have been there enough times to memorize the announcment on the moscow metro trains before the doors close,i have yet to fly on a russian aircraft.Plus,id love to have ramp access and see all the russian airports.
If i had the money,id pay as much as 10,000USD,but it depends on how good the hotels are

I'd pay EUR3-4k for a tour like that, especially if it was an IL-18 (although I suspect all participants would be deaf after the first week !) - that would be magic fun, especially all the Central Asian airports. Instead of a charter on all the legs, maybe book some of the legs on scheduled flights, on TU3, TU5, YK2 etc - mmmmmmmmm ! Sign me up...

Not necessarily all the tour, but I like to fly on as many airlines and types as possible, especially off the beaten track. Sadly, when I'm bored at work (like now) I go on to the Production system and book great long whimsical tours to expensive far away destinations, and try and break Farequote by pricing them. But it would be great to do some of the trip in a chartered IL18, and not be constrained by schedules.

Aha, I see. A balance, then. On particular legs, like Dushanbe-Ashgabat and Ashgabat-Sharjah, you could charter a different plane on a different airline locally, and take scheduled flights on the other legs. Would certainly be very exciting. Just think - the tour would be a Russian/Soviet aircraft lovers' paradise!

I pay whatever you want, but just drop me off at THR and I'll spend the rest of the (tour) time there! Selling the slides I'm able to do at THR will bring me a fortune!
Ok, the ramp pass at THR is one thing, the ability to convince all the armed guards to let me do my "business" is another...
