A new swedish airline named Swedjet Airways is planning to start 6x daily traffic between Norrköping(Sweden) and CPH after the summer. Today skyways is the only operator with 4 daily flights! In the start they will operate a 50-seat plane, but after a while they will get a new 74seat plane. The airline is based in Norrkoping. Here is a link in swedish http://www.folkbladet.se/output.asp?ArticleID=530469&CategoryID=117&ArticleOutputTemplateID=23&ArticleStateID=2

Sounds like an overkill. With 6x daily it would make more sense to take a 30-seat RJ, and move to a 40/50-seater if necessary.

According to the article, the new airline will source two a/c for around 25 million dollar each, the first one with 50 seats and the other with 74 seats. They want a schedule with 6/d CPH on weekdays and 3-4 roundtrips on Saturday and Sunday.
Behind this new venture is Finansinvest, which, AFAIK, haven't had any interests in aviation previously, except for the CEO, who claims to have 30 years in business.

All-in-all this seems like an overkill. It was only a year or so ago that another airline wanted to fly 5+ daily to CPH with ERJs, but the plans never took to the sky.
Skyways has a quite strong foothold in the NRK-CPH market and strong ties with SAS, which I believe most pax will use for onward connections. I sincerely doubt that these plans will ever take off.

Well got, many of the passengers dont want to fly Fokker 50 anymore, I have heard ppl flying from ARN instead of NRK just because those planes. This is very good for Norrköping Airport and I think the new airline will be very succesfull!

@ Pera:

In an ideal world there would be no props and every single route would be served every ten minutes. However, there is a reason that this is not the case and it's called economics.

You mention that pax don't like JZ's F50. It doesn't say anywhere in the article that Swedjet will use jet-a/c, except maybe in their name...
I can't see where Swedjet will find enough pax to fill 6x daily flights to CPH. SAS struggled some time ago and left the route for Skyways, who now flies 4x daily. Even if Swedjet took all of Skyways' pax they would still need around 50% more pax to have the same load factor, with similarly sized planes.
On top of this Swedjet would have to fight with an airline where you can earn EuroBonus points and has close ties to SAS, the main operator at CPH.

As a side note, I believe the airline who wanted to compete with Skyways a year or two ago was WaltAir. They wanted to source 2 ERJ-145 and compete head-to-head with Skyways. However, that never materialized.

Personally I highly doubt that this will become more than an airline mentioned in the news, but after the summer you're welcome to prove me wrong if they start flying to CPH.

regards,
/Robert

@GOT: Is there any website which might be helpful to find further information on Finansinvest. We have seen so many start-ups like WaltAir, Gothia, MyAir, PB etc. in Sweden recently ...

6 daily flights between NRK and CPH... that's like making a bungee jump... without the rope! It's a suicide! Honestly, I don't see much of a chance for them to fill up those planes!

Good luck anyways  Smile

@ Thomas_Jaeger:

A search on google returned nothing as far as I could see, but I'll keep looking for any info about Finansinvest. I'll post if I find anything.

The article mentions that Finansinvest is a Gothenburg based company, and I couldn't find any connection between the Norwegian company and the Swedish Finansinvest.

I'll keep looking...
