I was thinking of going out to JFK to catch another look at the AF 777-300ER. However, the flight trackers are saying it's a 772 today. Are they just not updated yet to have the 773, or is it a 772 flying the route today?

AF Flight # 6 and 7. 6 is due into JFK in about two hours. Any help is appreciated.

AF006/007 CDG-JFK-CDG is daily operated by a B777-300ER until June 13th.

Why is AF even flying their B773's into JFK! Shouldn't it be more reasonable to use it on markets in South America or Asia?

I just asked that question earlier this week. Apparently, new aircraft are used on shorter, more familiar routes at first to allow the crew to familiarize themselves with the aircraft. Also, during the "introductory period" the plane will likely have some glitches to be worked out and the airline would prefer that these are worked out during shorter routes.

Yes, F-GSQA (AF's first 777-300ER) did operate AF 006 today from CDG to JFK....saw them taxiing out from CDG gate E22 behind us for takeoff today...

To add to Reply#3,

...that's part of the reason. The other, more simple, reason is that it takes two aircraft to op a daily CDG-NRT & NRT-CDG..... but they've only got one  Big grin

ConcordeBoy,
So why not use it on MSY-CDG? That'd be an excellent route, and it'd require only one aircraft!!

Actually, Concordeboy, you are right.

The B773ER will be used during the "training period" on the CDG-JFK route until June 13th.

After delivery of the third aircraft, AF will use them on the CDG-NRT route (from June 14th), operating two of the 3 daily CDG-NRT flights.

I have a friend who had the pleasure of flying in J on the first return back to CDG on 10MAY04 ... with the exception of the cabin crew, he had a good flight and was pleased with the new J class seat. He said the whole plane looks very nice inside and is just immense.

Bonjour Chef!

Its such a short hop for the 773ER over the pond. AF should go for Asia/ Latin America with this beauty.
