UA In CRP In The '80s?

I searched for this but couldn't find ANYTHING in the archives (and found very little on CRP overall). While they haven't had a presence here in many years, I remember UA serving CRP when I was a child. I don't know if it was temporary service or not, as even their ticket desk looked like a temporary affair. That could've been due to lack of space but I'm not sure. Does anyone know where they offered service to out of CRP, when it stopped and what they flew?

Yes, UA flew to CRP from AUS, I think. When during 1980's United flies to all of it's 50 States. Wilimngton,Delaware, New Haven,CT, Casper, WY, Fargo,ND, Rapid CIty, SD, PWM and BGR, ME, Charleston, WVA, Jackson, MS, and Little Rock, AR. Right now, they don't served anymore as I listed. United had a lot of cities when it's 50 states present serves to TTN, CHS, SAV, MSN, GRB, MLI, PIA, MBS, LMT, RDD, ACV, and etc..

Sadly, no one's ever been able to make CRP-SAT/AUS work, not even running Beechs or smaller! I could possibly see RJ service to DEN or more likely ORD... I woudln'tve thought CRP-ATL would've worked either but it's been around now for quite a few years and is doing well. Thanks for the info!

I can see flying to Dallas or Houston, but there is almost nobody on Interstate 37, it's truly a very pleasurable drive once you get outside loop 410 in SA.

I have always been surprised that WN doesn't operate CRP-DAL. I thought if they could make DAL-MAF, DAL-LBB, and DAL-AMA work, they could easily turn DAL-CRP. Guess the flight to HOU is enough ...

Does anyone remember the days when UA used to fly to HOU? I was real young, but I remember seeing the white 732s and 733s flying over, and once, a gray 733. I think they went on to IAH in 93 or 94 and started using A320s and 722s.

SAT service isn't necessary but CRP-AUS service would be nice, especially considering how bad I-35 is between the two with all the construction. It'd be wonderful to be able to hop a flight to AUS, take care of business, and fly back in the same day whereas it's a bit much to drive there, have meetings and drive back in the same day. As for why it's sad... IMO it's sad anytime an airline can't make a route work and has to drop it. It's just business but it DOES have an adverse effect on people that used the service.

On why WN doesn't do CRP-DAL direct... IMO the reason is that it allows them to run the frequencies they do between HOU and DAL as well as HOU and CRP whereas they might not be able to justify some of those flights without the through pax. They also run HRL-HOU-DAL.
