Brazil's GOL Linhas Aereaes has placed an order for 15 737-800s with 28 options. Delivery's will start sometime in 2007.

If all options are filled GOL will have a fleet of 65 737NG's They now operate 18 -700's and 4 -800's

"Wojick said various types of aerodynamic modifications are being analyzed for the 737-800 which will be evaluated in wind tunnel testing later in the year."

Possibly an option for winglets?

alright alright, as a Brazilian I´m very happy for GOL, but my question is, why doesn´t a single Brazilian Carrier makes orders with EMBRAER????
RG has 145´s, and that´s it, the rest are only some EMB-120´s and old old 110´s.
Couldn´t GOL orderd some 145 or 170 to explore new routes???to markets where they don´t fill the plane???
I´d really love to see some 170´s around in GOL, TAM or Varig colours.
Vasp president Wagner Canhedo said that they´ll renouve it´s fleet with Embraer, does anybody want´s to put a coin on it??I don´t....
Anyway....good for GOL, looks like Brazilians are starting to get back on track in the air.
But now serious, does anybody knows the real reason there aren´t the new Embraers around in Brasil???

I do know that my friend, but the thing is, why buy so big airplanes when the domestic market can not support that big planes in all its routes.
In 2003 the load factor with GOL was let´s say 70%m in a 160 pax= 112 pax, that can well fit in a EMB-190.
Besides that, I belive that being a braziliand carrier and buying brazilian made plane, could bring GOL a better deal, or somethig like that, without having to use GE Capital, my guess.
I don´t know for sure, but I do fly a lot, last year 65.000 miles with RG and 37.000 with JJ and I rarely see a fill up plane insede here.
When JJ replace their F-100´s, what´ll they put in???and about RG and it´s 737???
That´s it.

Cheers!!!

Erik, do you think JJ will replace their F100's soon? It seems to me many airlines are rushing to getting rid of their Fokkers. Maybe we will see JJ go for A318's for commonality purposes (that's what MX is doing now that it is replacing its F100's) but I agree that it would be nice to see Brazilian carriers buying Brazilian planes.

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

Erik, I'm sure it's not because EMB doesn't make great planes, it's what the airline needs. I love EMB jets, they connect me to a lot of the small markets I have to travel to, and are much better than the old beech 1900s that I traveled on before. If you want to use that logic, then why does AF buy 777's when they could buy an airbus product, or why does NW buy the A320 series. It's all about getting an aircraft that will do what you need it to do at a price that will make the company a profit.

Yes, but since load factor is an average, you would be turning many passengers away when you could have filled a 738. And remeber that the 738 has an extra 1250km of range over the E190

EddieDude, JJ has some 26 F-100´s, and 20 are parked 2 are going with charter flights, and other 4 with TAM Mercosur, around here in Latin America.
Anyway, I guess that also has to do with some accidents with JJ F-100´s.
Anyway......
Hey guys I do know about all that U´re saying about planes, load factors and etc., and I apreciate you trying to explain it.For real.THX  Big thumbs up

But once, I flew with RG from SP to RJ and there were only 5 pax onboard of a 737-300.......

I´ll post a explanation to GOL´s order today, they are getting own ac´s replacing their leased ones.

Have a fine day U all.
