Read today in Skyport that a 35m high bridge is due to be installed in the next few days linking the North and South Terminals at LGW. Looks like it will be going over the top of one of the taxiways too.

Not seen anything on here about it (tried a search), but from the artists impression looks like it would be good for photo ops.

Hi Leezyjet

Isn't that the bridge over the taxiway between the North terminal and the remote stands/Pier 6? Not seen Skyport yet so don't know if it's the same thing.

Cheers

From what I remember this was meant to be installed a few years ago but was postponed. It will be high enough for a 744 to pass underneath IIRC. Good for photo opportunities, but only if you have a boarding pass.  Wink/being sarcastic

It would have to be a very long bridge to connect the terminals. They are probably a good 1/2 mile apart.

I think that you mean the North Terminal Pier Extension bridge.

But will it take an A380 underneath?

To answer my own question:
LGW Bridge height (underneath?): 35 m
A380 height: 24,1 m

Worldoftui,

Yeah it could be, it didn't specify in the article where it would be going from/to.

Looks pretty good, this will change the LGW skyline forever.
