Route will vary depending on the weather on the day. For a route like DOH-MAN there are many different routes you can take, either to avoid headwinds/adverse weather, or to take advantage of tailwinds. Most of the time a flight from the Middle East to the UK will be flown against a headwind.
Whatever route chosen - you can't fly the great circle, you'll have to stick to the airways!
Also, it's generally down to company policy whether you overfly Iraq or not.
