JetBlue Boston-Florida

I've been doing some thinking, and I just can't come up with an answer: Why doesn't JetBlue fly BOS-Fort Myers (RSW) and BOS-PBI (West Palm Beach)? Florida is a VERY big destination for Bostonians, and therefore, I would think that these routes would be very popular for JetBlue.

Just another thing: How's B6 doing currently on their BOS-Florida flights? I'd assume they're doing well as they'll be adding a 5th MCO and 3rd FLL in November.

Any comments and feedback are welcomed.

Is there any competition to Florida from AA?

Yes, they are competition with AA to Florida. It is very well with them.

SONG flies BOS-RSW/PBI...I would bet that SONG's loads can't be to high, I'm sure if they were then B6 would throw their hat in.

Actually, traditionally BOS-RSW has been a strong performer with DLX and now with Song. I can also speak from experience having travelled this route several times, I've yet to see an empty seat.

That's true. DLX always served RSW nonstop from BOS, but never from JFK. I always wondered what was the strong demand to RSW, but it works for them.

As for AA to FL, why don't they have a bigger presence in the NY-FL market. I know they serve MIA from LGA, JFK, and EWR but other than that, they do LGA-MCO/PBI/FLL. What happened to all the JFK-FL routes they inherited from TWA? And why no EWR-FL routes?
I know they flew the JFK-MCO route for a while. Even upgraded it to 757s--then it was gone.

Any thoughts?

Didn't AA have EWR-FLL at one point?

Song's loads on BOS-PBI flights are extremely high. JetBlue would do well on the route, however, FLL is their focus city. They mistakenly believe that there is a high volume of people in palm beach county that love B6 sooo much that we'd be willing to drive to FLL to fly to BOS instead of flying Song (or AA during the season). it's the same reason we don't see an IAD-PBI or LGB-PBI flight on B6 even though there's no question it would perform very well.

I think, and this is just from observation, that Bostonians tend to flock to the Gulf Coast of Florida while New Yorkers tend to Flock to the Atlantic Coast of Florida. Fort Myers is huge with Bostonians and New Englanders in general. The Red Sox have their Spring Training there. Can't blame them, the last person I wanna see when I go on vacation is a New Yorker Big grin

BOS-RSW flights have significantly high load factors on SONG. I wonder the same, why B6 has not entered the fray.

probably one thing i can think of why we havn't started more flights from BOS is because of lack of airplanes. because we start new routes where we see the most profitability and as you all know we focus more on trans-con flts. I'm sure once we get maybe another gate in BOS and more planes you'll see more destinations out of BOS!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy See you in the skies

Historically, all flights from BOS to FLL,FLL,MIA,RSW,TPA,PBI and MCO are full year round on all airlines. Whether the are profitable or not is another story.

They will get new EMB-190 for next year in mid-2005 with jetBlue. They will use with small commerical flights out of JFK or LGB.

i know jetblue is already at IAD, but i think they should start service at BWI to places in florida such as FLL and MIA. i dunno, just a thought...  Smile

I can't see that being profitable. There wopuld be too much competition. You have both WN and FL operating flights out of BWI to the popular Florida destinations.
