Just wondering what equipment is used to fly to Hawaii from Seattle?
Which other west-coast cities have service from mainland to Hawaii on Northwest?

NW currently uses a DC10-30 on the SEA-HNL/SEA-OGG run. However starting next week, NW will be using a 753 on the SEA-HNL/SEA-OGG runs.

Hawaii to Seattle is currently DC-10, switching to the 757-300 on June 10.

Honolulu is served from SEA and, re-starting July 1 from LAX. MSP and DTW also have service to HNL.

Also, Maui is served from Seattle, plus the Kona tag begins soon as well, so it'll be a SEA-OGG-KOA-SEA routing.

Also, NW is supposed to be re-instating LAX-HNL, and SFO-HNL using 753s later this summer, I believe.

Do you guys know if NW will re-instate the HNL-SEA red-eye? I think the flight # was NWA926?

NW926 will be flying KOA-SEA when it starts service, and that will be NWs red-eye to SEA.Currently NW only has 1 flight a day to SEA it's NW924 which leaves at 13h15 I believe.

COAB767-

SFO-HNL will not be re-instated, at least not yet. LAX-HNL is the only one that will be re started. It would not surprise me if SFO-HNL will be restarted eventually. I am starting to think NWA found their "niche" with the 753s, and may be regretting they did not order a few more.

Will all of NW 753s be ETOPS rated, or just certain ship numbers, and if so does anybody know what exact ship numbers would be doing the Hawaii flights?

Thanks!

Thanks for the help.

I'm hoping to be travelling standby through an interline, given that the weekend are the busiest days of travel, which days would be recommended?

I'm all for newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft, but I think going to narrow-body aircraft kind of cramps a passenger's style. For example, I really like the DC-10/MD-11 layout in Economy, with the ability to get seats where there are only 2 seats together. In a 753, you're stuck in a section of 3 seats, no matter where in the plane you sit. That would get really old on a long-distance flight!

Finally made it to an airline mecca!

Does anyone know the departure time (HST) for the NW B753? There was one time in the past an all-white NW B753 came to HNL, forgot what it was doing here though.

Thanks for the info.

CanadaEH: Don't put too much hope on non-reving on this particular routes (any HI flights). Our load factor, specially coming back from HI islands, has been really high. Over 90% and most flight out of HI has a good quantity of non-revs on their lists. Going over (mainland to HI) sometimes is easier than coming back. You'll be at the very bottom of the list should you not be NW's management, current employees and family, companions, nor retirees.

On average, there is at least a dozen of non-revs for each flight. A lot of people have been trying to fly on ATA or Ryan International. I believe their flat rate is $50 each way and all you need to do is just show up at their ticket counter with your airline ID. You can bring up to 2 (if not mistaken) companions when flying Ryan Int'l or ATA.

Other than that, good luck !

FAVRE - Is there any company information about SFO-HNL? NW have said so far no plans to restart this route though the possibility with the 753 seems likely.
PDX/HNL? Haven't heard this. What info do you have and from what source?

FYI, I work for Westjet up in Canada. Are you saying that I can just show up and produce my Westjet ID and I can fly for $50?

CanadaEH:

Last time I heard, the procedure for Ryan Intl or ATA was like that (show up at the ticket counter with ID and cash). Make sure you have back-up flights in case they don't allow employees from your carrier (depending on the agreement between your company and theirs). Doesn't Air Canada fly non-stop from YVR? I believe they fly B767 to HNL.

There are lots of options out of HI... Do your homework properly before you leave the mainland. Not only US carriers fly HI-mainland, you can also try on QF, AZ, etc..

25 Redtailmsp : As of right now, the last 5 aircraft in the fleet, fleet numbers 5812/13/14/15/16 have been or are in the process of being converted to and certified
26 Je89_w : Will NW continue to send the remaining B753s that need ETOPS certification to HNL? Noticed the change of schedule, had to rush off for an appointment
27 UA2162 : I haven't heard about LAS-HNL, but that would be possible too. This route would do well considering the only airlines to fly scheduled non-stop to LAS
28 Ha763 : Unless an airline has a contract with a charter company/wholesaler, HNL-LAS will not be a smart route to start. Most travel between HNL-LAS is on char
