Air Canada appears to be putting the A340-500 into revenue service starting July 1st, 2004 on Toronto-Vancouver. Toronto-Vancouver-Toronto will be used as an A340-500 route for the entire month of July.

Gents.. If ACA is starting A340-500 service on june 1st, then these aircraft gotta be on canadian soil already, and if not then it will be very soon. Air Canada has to do acceptance flights, as well as getting these pilots checked out on the type. For those in YYZ and YVR, id be on the look out for the next couple of days.

I just booked my tickets for YYZ-YVR on AC's A340-500!!!
Although I don't have a window seat for the flight going to Vancouver, I have one for the flight home. I'll take lots of pics and might even do a little trip report.
What a geek I am. I haven't been this excited for a flight in a long time.

I am surprised there has not been more information on this. Are the 345s actually in Canada yet?
They seem to be on the online sked for YYZ to YVR in July, you would think that they must be in country if that date is actually going to hapen. Plus, it's August that the non stop YYZ HKG is supposed to start right?

The first will arrive in Canada on June 29th, the second in the middle of July. Initial routes planned are YYZ-YVR-YYZ and YYZ-LHR-YYZ and as someone mentioned there will be some initial positioning and ad hoc replacement flights between YYZ and YUL.
Enjoy your flight!
