From what I understand, after furloughing so many, all that are left are senior higher paid employees. Also their distribution costs seem to be higher than most carriers. usairways.com accounts for only 10% of sales.

Expect a lot of buy out offers for the senior US Airways people to come up in the next month. The management team seems to finally get the reality they need to get rid of these 20-40 year employees and the unions are willing to work on this type of project. Should it be made available, from what I've seen and heard...US Airways could become pretty junior over night - a lot of people want out now.

I bet WN is lower on that list once fuel is added in, due to their hedging.


Firings, if well done, are good for employee morale.
