And here you can see a photo of the first arrival... a big day for HVN and hopefully just a first step towards receiving air service from a number of new destinations.

I am glad to see Comair will now be in KHVN again. I grew up in New Haven. So this will be a real easy way to get home now. My dad also knows the person at Yale who worked this out with Comair to get them to go to New Haven. Lets hope this is the start of something new in New Haven. If anyone lives in that area I would love to see more pictures from there.

Jon

Also this is my first ever post on here I just signed up on airliners.net. But I have been coming on here for a few years just never posted anything so I am glad to be here.

Who else flies commercial service into HVN? Is it just USEX?

Scotty,

Let me explain to you about word "begun" or "begin".

Begun is a past time. It was a long time ago begun service.

Begin is a present or future time. The flight will start begin October 1.

OK, Get it? Everyone gets confusing what you are trying to say.

I would like to see ASA go in to KHVN only cause it would be easier to get to there from Florida.

I rode my bicycle up to East Rock today and just as I reached the top I saw a Delta Connection CRJ fly low over town from West to East and gracefully arc into the landing path for HVN. Pretty cool! I just might have to make a trip over to the airport this week to get a closer look.

ComAir should look into starting RDG-CVG and RDG-ATL service now that USAirways in leaving RDG. They would fill any flight offered from RDG to either CVG or ATL

There is a golden opportunity there in RDG, USAirways Express/Air Midwest and the Airport AD didn't see eye to eye and they claimed that they were losing money on their flights and with out any grant money to support them they would terminate service. The AD claimed that Air Midwest would not listen to any of his ideas on when flights were needed. I know people from ComAir were in RDG about a year and a half ago talking to the AD but nothing ever happened, so I guess we will see if they jump on the opportunity or not

I really don't think AA will send a 737-800 to HVN. I say this cause well United used to fly a 737-300 but that lasted for awhile. My thoughts about KHVN is that it will always be a commuter airport. I would love to see mainlines in there but I will be happy with RJs. Be much easier to go see my parents. Hartford is nice to fly into but New Haven is so much more covenant. Also people who live in East Haven where the airport is located, were always complaining about the 737-300 noise that was there at the airport during the time it was there. RJs for now would be the best thing to serve the area. Florida flights might help the airline out if one of them would start flying it, but that just my thought.

Just to add one more thing. There is a jetway and a door for a second jetway at KHVN. A low cost carrier might just do good out of there. That would be something like Southeast and or Southwest like which as everyone knows hates busy airports. So just something else to think about when it comes to flights to KHVN.

I'm afraid I'm "getting confusing" with what you're trying to say here, Big777.

You might try cleaning up your own grammar act before unloading on Scotty. He's got a legitimate reason for not understanding how to say things and he's pretty humble about it at least. I, too, have difficulty understanding what he's trying to say sometimes but he takes correction pretty well.

Cheers,
Dave in Orlando

The only other rumor I've heard regarding scheduled air service at HVN is that Independence Air has considered the possibility of offering scheduled RJ service to IAD. Apparently, they want to wait to see how the Delta Connection flights do.

Personally, I could imagine that CRJ flights to ORD or maybe CRJ-700/E170 flights to FLL might be successful, but airport infrastructure for large numbers of flights does not exist (thus excluding Southwest) and flights should probably be on the most modern, quiet aircraft to avoid disturbance of East Haven residents (thus excluding the idea of flights offered by a Southeast DC-9).

I missed what big said too. Now I see it aa has never served KHVN at all. Not even eagle. But would be nice to see. The only jets that have flown into KHVN other then charters is Air Wisconsin with a BAE-146, united 737-300 and the Comair CRJ. So big think you miss understood what airport we talking about. This is New Haven CT.

Yes I agree that Southwest could not get the flow out of new haven your right. And yes Southeast would not get in there with the noise. But I am just saying it would fit the airport for no crowds. If you see where I am going.
