I read an article years ago about the deposed Zaire dictator Mobutu Sese Seko who built a city with his mansion and an international airport in the middle of a jungle in Zaire (now Congo), city was called GBADOLITE. The report mentioned that the dictator chartered Concordes and B747s on his extravagant trips to Europe from Gbadolite.
Is there a truth in this? Or is it one of those phony articles in the New York Times?
If it is true, any body knows what airlines and types of aircrafts were chartered and routes flown from Gbadolite?

Yes, AF flew the concorde to Gbadolite as charter, Gbadolite was a palace built near Joe Mobutus hometown. He fled from the country from there on an
UNITA owned Il-76, riddled with bullets from attacking rebels (luckily it wasn´t a Boeing, was his sons comment later on).
If interested in the subject try to get hold on the book "In the footsteps of Mr Kurtz".
