I flew NCE LHR on Wednesday (BA343) - parked on the apron next to NCE Terminal 1 was a QF 747-400 (VH-OJS). This is not a normal visitor to NCE, so I was wondering what it might have been doing there. There were 8 or 9 flights departing that morning for Cologne, for the UEFA soccer final, so possibly it was a charter for that - there were several other aircraft, including Star Airlines A330 and A320, and a BA 737-400 (G-DOCM I think), parked down the Schengen end of T1, so possibly that was a charter as well.

Could be a cruise charter, although I didn't see any large ships in Nice, Villefranche or Cannes as we took off, and they only usually depart in the evenings.

Qantas regularly does charters for Swann Helenic Cruises from around May to September over the summer. Some photos below at the cities below that Qantas doesn't normally fly to taken from the past three Summers.

yeah, sounds like a cruise charter.
QF has lots of time in LON, but also in AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA, for flights back to australia.
same with saa in fra but they don't use planes for charter cause they fear that something could happen at such "little" airports and then they have a problem for their flights back.
