This relates to something I read in another thread: I have noticed that DL's service to/from Latin America is kind of a second-class one: airplanes tend to be older and faded; usually displaying the older liveries. In ATL, flights are set to arrive/depart form the farthest gates in Concourse E (the ones in the outer edges of the long concourse: E1 or E2, or e35 or E36). Traffic personnel usually display an attitude that goes from condescending to rude. Difference in service is quite noticeable when changing aircraft after the connection.
On the ground, I have had check-in counter clerks failing to recognize AM's club Premier gold card, or to honor cabin upgrades made by AM on a code-share flight.
In general I have found it is a lot more pleasant to take an Aeromexico-operated flight when codesharing: newer aircraft, far better food and drinks, better attitude from the F/A's...
Is it hjust me, or someone in the forum has perceived something similar?

Not at all CessnaLady, I've flown Delta twice from BOG to ATL and once ATL-BOG and the plane, a Boeing 757, was not old, showing the newest livery, flight attendants were really friendly, service was very good, one of them arrived in a far gate but the other two were not too far from the center; it was a great experience on all three flights, I do not consider them as 2nd class service.

I've flown on DL in the ATL-BOG-ATL trip also. Pretty nice crew and the 757 was sporting the newest livery (in fact, each and every one of the DL 757s I've seen in BOG have been painted with the wavy gravy scheme) if that somehow matters. In ATL I did notice that the aircraft docked pretty far away from the central part of the concourse, but that was not an issue at all (when returning, the 757 was parked almost at the center).
Anyway, what I found most peculiar when referring to this thread and the actual reality, is that I later caught another DL flight to SAN which was operated by a 757 that really looked worn out.

Now that you mention it... I've always wondered why DL8076 (MeX 0800 > ATL 1220) usually parks at E2, while gates E4-E10 are empty... And each of those gates means longer walking distance for passengers disembarking from the AM-opertated flight.
The same for DL's last flight to MeX (also operated by AM) at about 4:30-5PM... Leaves from E2 while the remaining gates between that one and the center plaza of the concourse are indeed deserted.
This last fact made me loose a connection by like half a minute some 10 days ago (DL's employee with an attitude wouldn't let me in, albeit the AM B752 was still at the gate with the door open)... which was an excellent excuse to stay overnight at the Renaissance Concourse hotel and have a long afternoon of plane spotting from my balcony overlooking the runways!!
I am a happy SkyTeam Elite member, and have never had trouble getting recognition for this status, regardless I fly KE, AF, DL or AM...

Thouhg I don't have as much experience on flights between the US and Latin America, I'd tend to agree with CessnaLady. The flights I have taken on DL from the US to Mexico seem to be no better (sometimes worse) than their domestic service. It seems as if AM (and maybe MX) pay more attention to their international routes than DL (and CO which I've also flown).
It reminds me of when I was little and went to visit rich cousins. When we visited them we were given the floor to sleep on, but when they visited us we gave them our beds and best food. Seems like US airlines don't give the same shrift to Latin American service as their Latin American counterparts do in reverse.

I have done MEX-JFK-MEX and MEX-ATL-MEX with both DL and AM and I have always found AM's planes to be newer-looking and the flight attendants to be nicer and more cheerful. Besides, food and drinks service on board AM is miles ahead too. So, bottomline, yes, DL's Latin American product (or at least DL service to Mexico) is not on par with comparable airlines. Sad because I am a loyal SkyMiles member (fortunately there is AM).

DL's LAM service is average and sometimes worse. To be fair, though, Delta's service has been poorer in the past few years than I have ever seen it before. Everyone has frown on their face, and that famous southern hospitality that DL used to show is gone.
