While flying out of DFW yesterday, I noted a BWIA MD-80 in their new colours parked at the Delta hangar. Does anyone know why it would be at DFW, and if anyone has its registration, I would really appreciate it.

Also, if anyone has the registration for AA497 MSY-DFW from yesterday, I would appreciate it (instead of waiting until August to get it...I'm not the most patient person...)

BWIA no longer flys the MD-80, i dont think. Maybe delta uses it for training and/or maintainance.

I saw a BWIA aircraf about 2 sundays ago when I flew to DFW, parked on the East side of the Airport past the runways. It was near some hangar so possibly Delta's. I dont remember if it was an MD-80 or a B737

It was on the East side of the airport...I am assuming (pretty sure) it was DL's hangar since there was a DL 767 next to it.

It has been there for more than a year after BW decided to park the MD83s. It was apparently sent there for a maintenance check but financial problems (or something to that extent) have delayed the checks and as a result the plane has been at the hangar for so long. Interestingly the plane was actually leased by BW so it seems odd that the lessor did not get it sorted out sooner.

The reg# is 9Y-THQ. Delta had the the contracts for BWIA's 737s and MD83 aircrafts after they laid off the BWee techs at Piarco. The rumor I heard was, at the time that aircraft went to do the checks, BWIA was going through some serious financial problems and Delta insisted that BWIA paid up first and then the necessary work will be done. As you can see, the aircraft is still sitting there so someone can't pay the bill.
