How many flights are there NON-STOP currently between airports in Canada and Mexico? Is still JAL doing the Vancouver-MEX's leg with B747-300?
What city pair are served? What airlines?
Thank you in advanced.

The sked services by MX/AC on MX), Mexico">MEX-YYZ/YVR are eclipsed by much larger capacity to resorts such as CUN, PVR, Mazatlan and perhaps 4-5 others from over 10 Cdn cities. There are often 6 daily YYZ-CUN on winter weekend days.
Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

The current MX schedules indicate that the two AC daily flights to MEx from YYZ are done with A319's, but I have also heard that a 767 is sometimes used in this route. Never seen it in MEx, though.
In addition, if I am correct, there used to be a GDL-YVR flight twice a week but it seems that it was cancelled, probably due to poor demand.
MX is rumored to be looking at one new destination in Canada. YOW, YYC and YEG have been mentioned here in a.net but so far nothing has been announced by MX yet.
Finally, just on a side note, AM places its code on JL's 2x weekly MEx-YVR flight, which will be upgraded from a 743 to a 744 in October. AM used to fly to YYZ in the past but it left the Canadian market to MX.

Is JAL (like Iberia in the past) the unique non-mexican/canadian airline doing flights between Canada and Mexico or there is other one in addition? I think MEX can be easily accessible via YVR since MEX is a very high airport and YVR is the nearest important airport in North America from Asia

Here in Saskatoon, we got several charters to Mexico this past winter. Skyservice, Air Transat, and Westjet all had flights from here to various destinations, with most flights stopping in Regina. I saw an Air Transat A310 landing one night. We don't get many large aircraft here at YXE, so that was a treat. Occasionally, Northwest send a 757, rather than the normal DC-9, during the hunting season, but thats about it.
Widebodies flown on: A330-300,A340-300,A380-800,747-400,767-200ER,767-300ER,777-200A,777-200ER,777-200LR,777-300ER

My Uncle workds for Mexicana in their Commercial department. Asked
him again last night about the Calgary service and he said it is in the
planning stages. Might start in December. The South American service
from YUL is set for December and is a fact.

If I understand correctly, MX would be adding a 2nd daily out of YUL. This 2nd daily would fly YUL-MX), Mexico">MEX-Quito-Guaraquil? Also, I was reading another thread saying that YUL service would be downgraded to A-318's starting in November.
Thanks for confirming this info. It would be great to see MX twice daily out of YUL.....specially to South America. We currently have no South American service.

Just to add some information to the list that Robsawatsky posted above, some of the Air Transat services to Mexico are scheduled/non-stop. That company is HUGE in CUN with several operations a day on the weekend.
Some other companies that I can think of with service from Canada to Cancun are: Skyservice, HMY, Air Transat, Air Canada, Kelowna and JetsGo.
There are no stupid questions... just stupid people!

That AM Mad Dog at Pearson was probably just a charter. AM's only current involvement with Canada is the MEx-YVR JL flight on which they codeshare. Otherwise, they partner with DL for purposes of serving the Mexico-Canada market using ATL and JFK as hubs (and SLC to YYC with regional jets). I don't know if AM's new CEO might want to bring back YYZ to the route map in the short term but it seems to me that it would be hard to make it work since MX is flying MEx-YYZ 5x weekly and AC is flying twice daily (sometimes using a widebody).
NAVEGA, I echo Aviationman's comments; please help us understand the current (or actually the future) situation of MX at YUL. According to my MX schedule valid as of May 1, 2004, MX is flying MEx-YUL-MEx once daily using an A319. The separate thread that Aviationman mentions indicates that, from November, MX will start MEx-UIO/GYE flights using an A318 and that, from December, MX will likely downgrade MEx-YUL to an A318. You kindly explained us here that there will be two MEx-YUL-MEx flights as of December, one with the A319 (just like today) and a second one (airplane type unknown) continuing to Ecuador. What gives?
