All Nippon Airways - A Member of Star Alliance - has announced in Singapore - home of Singapore Airlines Limited - that it will launch a low cost airline operating Boeing 737s to compete more effectively on shorter routes.

""We have done the study, we have established a task force to set up the company and it's at the stage before the company is set up,'' President Yoji Ohashi said in an interview during a conference of the Star Alliance airline group in Singapore. "It's something I think that we have to do, and something that we should do as quickly as we can,'' he said, without elaborating on when the new unit will start operations."

Hmm... interesting. The bad part is that low-cost offshoots have never been successful. Let's hope ANA's subsid. changes this.

This is really the newest trend in the world and follows AI's intention. I hope the price dumping won't be too great, otherwise the industry could suffer a lot

Totally incorrect Mrniji. The industry wont suffer. The weak actors in the industry will suffer. they will be terminated. Which, in the long run is good for the industry and its customers.
