Hi.
On an LHR movements page, I found the following departure:

BA0009 To Sydney, Australia G-YMME 777 04/06/2004 17:40

BA0009 Being operated by a 777??? Any ideas why??

I was under the impression that BA0009 left around 10pm at night and was always operated by a 744.

Under the entry above there was this, which looked a lot more regular:
BA0009 To Sydney, Australia G-BNLG 744 04/06/2004 22:23

Any ideas what the story is here?

AMS - the FLIFO you get for BA comes to 1P from Amadeus, not from RTZ - if there was an operational equipment change, it would not be reflected in the standard 1A FLIFO information (it's not that clever !).

JGPH1A,

I have retrieved the Flifo directly from BA, through my Direct access of BA.
Even if there is an equipment change, It may not show right away, but this will be always updated, although it cannot be guaranteed.

AMS

Probably a typo error or a transmission error..

BA9 leaves LHR at 2200 hrs, so its more likely the B744 entry is the accurate one.

All 1P Direct Access links with BA (and all other 140 system user airlines) connect to Amadeus, and are provided with information from Amadeus. The requests are not forwarded to the airline's own inventory/flight management system

I have noticed this on many occasions, and I can assure you that flight BA009 LHR-BKK-SYD is flown by a B747-400.

I think the error comes from the ACARS decoding system itself, as there was a similar post recently regarding flights AA134/135 LHR-LAX-LHR, where the report were showing on the Gatwick page as being LGW-STL-LGW.

The system had not been updated and still shows as LGW-STL-LGW, when it is infact LHR-LAX-LHR.

But I am not sure why it shows BA009 as being a 777. I have noticed it shows up BA006 NRT-LHR as being a 777 aswell.

Also it says VS051/052 goes to/comes from Newark, rather than Tobago and Grenada. I wouldn't trust the whole reliability of the logs. Of course most of them are correct but when you get 3 or 4 of the same flight on one day then you know its not right.

Yes I agree Stephen,

When I want flight information from this source, I tend to go to the 'more info' pages. They seem to be 99.9% accurate and reliable. - And it comes in bloody handy when posting my pics on myaviation so I can enter the correct flight info for each pic! Laugh out loud

BA has flown with 777 before between LHR-NRT, but for the summer season the 744 are planned.

AMS - yes the information you have is the Operational FLIFO sent by BA to Amadeus - it's still accurate, but it is not ALL the info. They don't publish equipment changes or sensitive delay information eg. DLA DUE WHEELS FELL OFF - it is massaged into bland codes such as OPERATIONAL REASONS.

Trust me on this, I know whereof I speak.
