Can someone out there tell me what happened to McDougles. I always thought they made the best aircraft, so what happened to them? Do you think there aircraft were good? If they were still around today do you think they could compete against Airbus or Boeing?

They merged (got gobbled up by) with Boeing; the MD-95 became the Boeing 717 and other civil product lines were stopped.
The DC-10 freighter connversion became the Boeing MD-10, the MD-11 is currently referred to on Boeing's website as the Boeing MD-11.
