They encountered financial difficulties and were merged with Air Canada in 2000.
Unfortunate as they were a great airline  Sad

Went hideously bankrupt after pseudo-merging with AA, was going to be bought by a US company fronting for AA (IIRC), but the deal was blocked somehow - ended up being (sub)merged into AC, who apparently decided to airbrush CP from history. Sad story.

Ok, thanks!

What happened to their lines?
Did their own traffic continue or did AC decide to cancel some of of the old Canadian lines?

CP was a very poorly run airline. They drove themselves into near bankruptcy which precipitated the AC buyout. Incompetent mgmt.

Rhys Eaton was good at running PWA as a regional carrier with 732's but he was useless once he brought CP into the fold with their D10 fleet & intl routes.

His successor Kevin Jenkins was the Harvard MBA son of a former PWA director. KJ did the most damage -- he could not manage his way out of a paper bag, let alone run an airline. A silver-spooned MBA airhead.

I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.
