Today, was published an article stating that VASP and RICO are being object of Civil Aviation Department of Brazil due to some incidents and accident involving both companies.
Last month VASP had 03 incidents in 03 days. All of them related to presurization and one of the incidents caused many injuries in passengers. Seems that someone is thinking their fleet of B732 have lack of maintenance.
Their first B732 registration PP-SMA has 35 years in service. One of their 03 A300B2 (PP-SNL) is grounded for more than a year waiting for spare parts. Is is being cannibalized to the other 02 aircrafts same time PP-SNM and PP-SNN)...
Seem something is wrong. All 33 fleet aircraft are being inspected. Oldairplanes are not necessary bad airplanes!!! Considering VASP was one of the first world operator of B732, they have enough experience in maintenance.
RICO had 02 accidents with EMB-120 since 2002. The last one occurred in May 2004 and 33 were killed.

Experience yes, money, no...
Vasp´s owner is one of the biggest crooks in aviation. Vasp cannibalized one MD-11 back when they still had them to feed the rest of the fleet. So they have experience cannibalizing planes as well. Furthermore, they´re in financial crisis, with millions in debt and an aging fleet that will be forbidden to fly above FL290 next year....so they have to buy new planes or equip their 732s at a cost almost ten times the current value of the plane itself.
Rico is a small regional operator in the North of the country, don´t quite know how their maintenance is....But two crashes is rather curious, should be investigated.

Why will 732s be forbidden to fly above 290?
Noise issues? I read something about that somewhere.
Also, it seems that converting their fleet will be very expensive, so we might be seeing the end of VASP...
