we all know that airbus has the first A380 fitted with wings and the fuselage now completed, but this one will never fly. How are the parts for the 2nd A380(which will fly) doing, and where are they?

I am not sure where are they now and they already first one of A380 now. It should be done around in late 2004.

Most of the parts for the second plane arrived in Toulouse end of May.
They should receive parts for the third tonight or tomorrow.
(trucks have been blocked 2 hours last night in Gimont by some people on strike)
The idea is to complete several planes simultaneously, to test the process as well.

Teva,

Merci for the update on the first flying prototype of the A380-800.  Smile

I believe that at the rate things are going, I expect the first A388 flying prototype to be completed by late October of this year, exclusive of installing the four Rolls-Royce Trent 970 engines and the painting of the plane.

It's my understanding that the first A380 flight will take place sometime during the first quarter (January - March) of 2005. Is this accurate? Because it seems if they complete the first A380 that will fly in late October they might be able to move the first flight date up a bit. Me, I can't wait to see the A380 take to the skies!

cheers, Ralph

A photo in Flight International of the second forward fuselage ( first flying ) with the radome and lower fuselage fairings, it looks much better than the static test airframe. Waiting for more complete assemblies.

The first flight was previously scheduled for September of 2004, before they set the date back a bit.

Everyone seems convinced of early 2005.

Rolls believes all 4 engines will be hung onframe by Nov 2004.
