Admittedly, this is not my scoop, but considering my source it should be legit none-the-less.
Mexicana will begin (actually, restart) service from DFW to Cancun, Mexico City, Morelia, and Zacatecas on A318/319 aircraft in November. No frequencies are known yet and the flights will be AA codeshares.

Yes this is exciting news. I remember when they had
7 flights a day out of DFW.
I understand that they will be 2 daily flights to start with
and both, as you mentioned, code share with AA.
Great destination for Mexicana.
Now hopefully they will return to SEA, SJU and PHL.

Good to hear, I think I read something concerning their possible return to DFW a little while ago in some paper. They will be adding DFW in Nov along with switching ops to JFK, then more than likely stop PDX service as I've been told the loads are horrendous (even w/ schedule revamping). It would be nice to see them take over the 2x weekly 757 STL-CUN route, or even add on to it as there are something like 320 passengers a day on that route (300,000 a yr/ according to Stl Biz journal).
Unfortunately, I believe they will return to SEA or PHL before they even give St Louis a sniff.

There are some points that let me state that MX can offer AA a good business deal. I'm sure that MX could become an excellent feeder for the AA LAX, DFW, ORD, JFK, MIA, and even SJU hubs from Mexico. No one has better experience and reputation on the Mexico - USA market than MX. So why not give it a try?

I'm way off on math above....they said close to 200,000 fly that route every year. It shows I've been out of school for a month...

Its going to be interesting the number of frequencies MX will serve from the beginning. Indeed it would be great if MX get back to 7 frequencies as in the past!
If rumors come true, San Juan will be the next US destination they return to after Dallas, to connect MEx with AA's SJU Caribbean feed.
Two hours ago I heard this rumor also! I would love to see SJU back! I would become a frequent SXM visitor!

Lamberman...That really sad to hear that Mexicana isn't doing well out of PDX..Since you seem to have inside info. that the service is performing so poorly, do you know when that airlines planning to pulled out of PDX?

Leneld,
I do not know where LambertMan gets his info but he might be right on MX at PDX. If you go to the PDX website and look under statistics, you can see how MX is doing. Their loads are in the 50 to 60% range and for the 1 year they have been here, they have not gone much aboe 60%. They are slowly growing with the revamping of the schedule but it may be too little too late. I have not heard that they are planning a pull out but they can't be terribly thrilled with the loads. Unless they are carrying a lot of cargo (which does not show in the statistics for some reason), they probably are not making much money.

I inquired about them coming to St Louis, I was told its a possibility since they are concentrating on AA cities now. Mentioned it could be swapped for PDX because loads are terrible...

I would love to see Mexicana back in San Juan, it could really work if its a codeshare with AA. Im prety sure 3 weekly A319 flights could work out maybe MEX-SJU or MEX-CUN-SJU.

"¿Que comes que adivinas?"
You'll see that at least MX), Mexico">MEX-CUN-SJU will be put in operation. Many clues lead to that; MX's request for lots of slots at CUN, code sharing with AA, AA's inability to operate it due to the lack of 5th freedom in DFW-MX), Mexico">MEX-SJU, increasing interest for Puerto Ricans to visit Cancun and the Mayan Riviera, Cancun's arisal as a hub for both MX and AA, etc.

Lack of fifth freedom? SJU is in the United States. AA could fly DFW-MX), Mexico">MEX-SJU. They could not carry DFW-SJU passengers via SJU (the same way Pan Am can't carry FLL-SJU passengers via SKB on thier FLL-SKB-SJU flights), but they could rotate a plane and have it do DFW-MX), Mexico">MEX, then MX), Mexico">MEX-SJU-MX), Mexico">MEX, then MX), Mexico">MEX-DFW.
All AA has to do to operate any Mexico-Puerto Rico route is apply with DOT for the authority.

My mistake.... good observation!
I meant DFW-MEX-CUN-SJU instead of DFW-MEX-SJU in which of course they can do whatever they want !

Shhh.... don't make a lot of noise about it. That's the only thing missing here. AA operating to the Caribbean from Mexico and being succesful at it right in the face of our carriers.
Thanks !

A lo que hemos llegado: We are all excited now because MX is or might be starting flights to DFW and SJU? What's next, launching a massive advertising campaign naming their red-eye LAX-MX), Mexico">MX), Mexico">MEX flights "El Tecolote"? Welcome back to the 70's, folks! "Aún hay más!"

Going back to the main topic of this thread.
What terminal will they use? Will AA allow them to use AA? Will they use B or E? Any possibility they might use terminal D once its done?

They'll definitely use D once its done as will all international flights (with the possible exception of Air Canada). They will use terminal B for the time being though.

I don't know what to believe anymore..I wrote to the Port of Portland about how the Mexicana flight is doing..He stated that Mexicana traffic at PDX has been strong during the last three months and as the result of the increase, the airlines has added larger planes on that route..Also, the airlines does not plan to discontinue service at PDX.. Whatever..I'll just believe it if it happens..But I hope that it doesn't........

Other than making customs quicker since Terminal B has KE,BA,LH, and the charters as opposed to Terminal A's AA constant Int'l arrival influx, why will MX use B? A seems the more likely choice given that AA's operations and lounges are right there.
Also is there really that much demand for all of these additional flights to new cities other than MX), Mexico">MEX?

CUN is the foremost leisure destination in Mexico, so I think there is sufficient demand. As for MLM and ZCL, there is a lot of ethnic travel between the U.S. and these cities; I recall reading a few days ago somewhere that there are more Zacatecans in the U.S. than in Zacatecas City.
