ORD Traffic UP-even After AA And UA Cut 7%

I was just reading my latest update from the head of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.

Apparently ORD arrivals and departures were up 10% last month. This comes after AA and UA have made cuts to their schedules and delays continue to occur.

Since this has become a big issue I have started watching the situation and today alone arriving flights (according to Flightarrivals.com) are experiencing average delays of 1 hour and 45 minutes for most of the day, due to weather, wind and runway configuration.

Solutions?

Im thinking that AA and UA are going to look favorably on slots being required at the airport again. I say this because it would really suck to be AA and UA who, after cutting flights see delays increase and continue as other airlines continue to add flights.

For the second time today, I suggest new runways as an excellent solution. Even just constructing new 9R-27L, which does not intersect any other runway on the airport, would be a great improvement.

Will even get more runways expansion in ORD? Will make reduce of delayed time and will hope work out with AA & UA.

Is there land available in that area? It appears a new 9R/27L would have to be south of 32L/14R and west of 22L/4R so as to not interesect with 22L/4R. Is that land available?

Just curious.

N670UW- I reversed my letters; I meant 9L-27R. The city has acquired most if not all of the land on the north side; they aren't close on the land for the new south runway (which will eventually be 10R-28L).
