OK, looks like I am flying SQ on 26 july from CDG to SIN. I tried to get seat maps on their website with no success. first, there are many configurations of their 744. Do you know which they use on CDG route ? And second, I could not open these maps, anyway. Any seats that are best in the sense that you get more room etc in Y and seats to avoid ?
You can only reserve aisle or window request and not specific seats on SQ it seems ?
Can I get full UA miles on this flight ?
Anyone know a working site to check loads ?
thanks in advance.

You cannot request specific seats on SQ, instead they put your preference (aisle or window) in. What you could do is call SQ within 48 hours of your departure and the agent might be able to assign specific seats. Star status does help in my experience.
You cannot earn miles on SQ in the booking classes V,G,N,Q.
Your flight seems to be fully booked! Here are the loads:
CDG SIN 26/1225 27/0650 SQ333 F2 P1 A0 C0 Z0 J0 D0 S0 Y0 E0 B0 M0 W0 H0 Q0 N0 V0 L0 K0

thanks to the people above for the resonses.
wow, it does look fully booked ! what site do you use to get the load info ?
bummer, I dont think I will earn miles then. dont know my class booking yet but I think Q fare.
i would like to get an exit row seat, do you know what rows these are ?
I know they have 32 inches pitch, which is just limit. I flew MH which has 34" and it was a lot better. I checked EK too but it seems that their seat pitch is now 32" ? anyway, cannot change now...SQ it will be.

Exit rows are 39 and 49. Both have their drawbacks - Row 39 is near the lavatories and Row 49 is right next to the galley. The Emergency Exit seats are often pre-assigned to FFP elites. The next best compromise would be rows 62-64AC and HK at the back of the aircraft where the seats are 2-4-2 instead of 3-4-3. These are the two-seaters, and you get some space by the side.

Don't know about everyone else but I was able to select my seat via the online check-in when I flew last November, I'm expecting to be able to do the same again next time which will be later this week.
you can't buy time but you can sell your soul and the closest thing to heaven is to rock'n'roll

Not true. If you are Star Gold (regardless of carrier), SQ will take a REQUEST for specific seats but they wont CONFIRM it until they open the flight for checkin at 48 hours out. I always request row 49 on the 744 at booking and I've had 90% success getting it assigned using this methodology.

There are a few 744 with Row 41 as the exit, but I think those are used regionally now. You probably won't get them to CDG.
As for why I left SQ, well, SQ is not a great place to work, and the airline has many internal problems. Some people would argue that these problems are not very different from those at other airlines (which is true), but it is also true that a lot of SQ's problems stem from its internal corporate culture, which, to put it nicely, is "unique".

If a window seat really matters to you along with an emergency row exit better ask the check-in staff clearly if there's a window on your emergency row exit seat. Due to different configurations, row 39 on some B744s do not have windows which could be a nightmare to come people (Including me). That was when i flew 9V-SMT, however not long ago on SPF 39A was no emergency row exit. Weird indeed?

Dear all, thanks for the helpful response.
My fare class is actually W...so does that mean that I get to earn United miles on the flights ?
Docpezp, thanks for the offer. I am meeting up with friends who will then travel together. As soon as I know I can get some free time I will email you, I would love to go spotting in Changi !
normally, i would love a window emergency row seat, but the portruding door really cramps the space, so I will go for aisle emergency row, if I can get it. And being next to the galley does that mean I can just reach out for snacks ? I always get so ravenously hungry in an airplane !
Ex SQer, are you still in the industry tho ? obviously you still love aviation.
Cant wait to experience SQ.

Called SQ Paris. I did request a seat and indeed I can only express my aisle or window preference (and also emergency exit row), but not specific seat.
There are 5 cabin lay outs of SQ 744 in their website which are not so easy to get at. Does anyone know which configuration they use in their CDG SIN flights ?
Seems like 49 is always an emergency exit row, but the rows change at least for the first exit row in Y (row 30s).
As a registered user of their website, can I check in via internet ?

The last I remember is that registered users can do the checkin via the Internet but I have not tried this. I suspect that this could only be for tickets purchased from SIA online. If you did bought your tickets from a travel agent, I would strongly suggest calling up either your travel agent or SIA, and giving them your KrisFlyer number, and ensure that it is in the system. That way, 48 hours before your flight, you are able to perform the Internet checkin.
My experience with Internet checkin has varied. Once doing PER-SIN, I did the Internet checkin 47hrs 55mins before, and 1/2 the seats were already taken up, leaving the not so desirable seats. Another time doing SIN-CGK, I did the net checkin 30 hours in advance, and most seats were free.
Note that for some unknown reason, SIA deems it fit for them to reassign your seat even though you have done the Internet checkin (and without asking me too) It has happened to me before. Though I queried the move, the CSO failed to convince me.

definitely I will get pictures of meals, cabin etc. though I may need some help in posting them in my report. I will also take pics of singapore girls AND boys just to be fair to everyone.
I flew LH 744 indeed on the exit row and the window seat seems to have even less room than the normal window seat because of the slide compartment. so I have requested on SQ aisle exit row.
What is SMN ?
hm I think I will just be at the airport early to get my preferred seat or call SQ 48 hours before departure rather than do an internet check in.
