SAT-SUN JULY 10-11.

1) Meet at 0930 (if not possible, please state your ETA in this thread) at the car park spectators' area (where there’s a good view of the movements) and proceed to the excellent visitors’ area (visit http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/web.nsf/Content/ViewingPark) near the runways (by public bus). Spend the day there watching the movements, while sunning ourselves;

2) Go to the seemingly brilliantly located pub (The Airport Hotel; visit www.airporthotel.freeserve.co.uk) about 1700 (5pm) for a BBQ (the cost per person will be a maximum of £2 per food item) and take advantage of the evening sun and warmth. If you require vegetarian food, please let me know. We can watch the movements from where the BBQ will be held:

"Our large beer garden, about the size of half a football pitch to the rear, over-looks the runway which is less than 50 feet away." !!!!!

I stayed at this place a week or so ago, and can confirm its excellence and its convenience. If they’re landing and departing on 24R, it’s absolutely fantastic – and the planes are close enough to easily see their registrations by mere eyesight.

Naturally we can drink copious amounts of alcoholic beverages (or as little as you want (good idea, MYT!) or none) during the evening. If you do or do not want a meal, please reply to this thread.

3) Proceed to the hotel for the night. Annoyingly, the group rate at the very expensive SAS Radission is nothing much at all, so I have decided that it would be best to stay at the well-located (3 min. walk to both terminal 1 and 3) Bewleys (visit www.bewleyshotels.com) which is much better value (£59 for a twin-bedded room, so £29.50 each). If, however, you really want to stay at the SAS, you will have to pay the normal nightly rate. Please book at whichever you want ASAP. Once booked, please copy and paste the long form and put name of the hotel you'll be staying and the person with whom you'll be sharing next to your name.

If you do or do not require accommodation, please reply to this thread.

4) Meet at the car park viewing area about 8am (or earlier or later as you wish), before returning to the viewing area or returning to the excellent Airport Hotel (depending on the active runway). Or, if you prefer, you may stay on level 13 of the car park.

Here’s a list of the current attendees – 32 in total so far. If you’re coming, add your name to the relevant sections:

Shouln't you just advertise the meet and link people to the non-av topic? Else we get several lists but with different people on, when ideally we need one definitive one!
