LH Equipment-Change On Germany-US Flights

hi folks,

I just checked out some flights for next january (thinking about a trip along the east coast) and figured, that LH changed it's transatlantic equipments/flights:

e.g. BOS:

now A330 from MUC and 2 A340 from F R A
then A340 from MUC and 1 B747 from F R A

are there other routes where LH increases the available seats from MUC und decreases them from AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA? is this just due to demand or also due to the ongoing discussions about whether AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA will get it's new runways etc. in time?

I guess since AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA is a major transfer hub, and then having one of its main sources of passengers gets its own dedicated flights it'll have a knock-on effect on how many use its services. Also Munich can be considered a hub in its own right attracting passengers out of the busier AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA.

During the summer they have two A343s but during the winter season it's just one B747.

It's just part of the seasonal adjustments Lufthansa is making in its transatlantic operation, together with the availability of widebody aircraft.

This summer, Munich sees indeed one A332 and one B763 aircraft, but AFAIK Lufthansa is trying the make longhaul ops at Munich all A343 with a two-class layout.

As for the Boston flight from Munich, I believe that next winter will be the first winter season to see daily operations on the route, and the same goes for the Munich-Los Angeles run. So far no information about the Montreal and Miami operations. Miami is likely to return given its strong performance last year around. Don't know what the plans for Montreal are.

I know that LH is not very excited about the difficulties with the new runway in AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA. They have mentioned several times that they will move capacity to MUC if AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA doesn't extend.

OK, now I got it.
But still it seems to be the normal reduction during the winter season, at least for F R A. They used the 747 last winter as well.
