Hi All,
I booked a ticket awhile ago to fly from LAX-JFK, JFK-CAI, CAI to Sharm El Sheik, back to CAI, and on to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
We want to take as much baggage as possible to Ethiopia, as we are helping a clinic there and need to take medical supplies. I can't get a straight answer from them. What is the baggage number and weight limit for both international and domestic flights?
Also, is it possible to reserve seats before you check in? The travel agent I booked with said they couldn't do that for me. Their 777s have the 2-4-3 seating, and I would LOVE for my girlfriend and I to get into the two seats section (window and aisle).

Usually on US to Europe flight you have PC (piece concept) and that allows you 32kg (70lbs) per bag and you are allowed two bags per person, so a total of 64kg (140lbs) per person. It shouls say on your ticket it is usally at the bottom, it should say PC or the amount of kg/lbs you are allowed to take, if not just call the airline.

IslandHopper, officially you are only allowed 20k but if you and your partner check-in together, I'm sure both of you can easily pass of 50k. In February I flew with them on their AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA-CAI-JED-CAI-LHR services and that was the case.
I've flown so many times on their domestic routes and to be honest I've never carried more than 10k with me, so I can't say how much you can carry from personal experience, but I'd say its similar to international flights. But if the flights are not too full they usually pass off extra weight for free.
About the medical supplies I strongly advice you inform the airline beforehand that you will be carrying them, so that relevant checks can be made. They are very strict about these things.
About booking seats, they usually do not pre-assign seats beforehand so unfortunalty you'll have to go early to the airport to get the window seats.
Anyway I think you should have a look at this section of MS's website. It has useful info:

>When are you flying? Which airline will you be flying between LAX and JFK?
I just checked, and although my ticket says EgyptAir, The flight number is on a UA 767! I thought EgyptAir flew its own 777 to LAX? There are pics of their 777 on a.net at LAX. When did they stop this service? No wonder we have such a long layover at JFK.
The website says we're allowed 32kg on flights to/from the US. I *pray* they will let us take that much from CAI to ADD.
