HKG-SFO: SQ VS CX VS UA (market Share)

I am sure they all do well. But who is making the highest amount of $$$? And who carries the highest number of passengers?

I would say CX right?

United Airline....I'll give it a shot

SQ 1 747-400 daily.....hold the flight number of 1 and 2 so must be a important flight. Actually rumored around here as the first route to see the A380 so must be good.

CX 1 747-400 daily.....heard rumors of a second flight possible. Maybe a mid-afternoom A340. A friend of mine hear is the loadmaster and they have to bump cargo for passengers a few times a week. Flight is almost always full.

UA 1 747-400 daily.....The usual Int'l flight in the afternoon for United. I'm sure it does well or they would have dropped it. No rumors of a second flight.

I don't know the exact markets chare numbers with passengers flown, but they all fly thr same a/c which would make it some what even. SQ maybe be leats since some passengers are going on to SIN from SFO. UA and CX, most passengers are gooing to HKG. Hope this helps.

UA's flight goes onto SINGAPORE too with another aircraft. UA used to do DOUBLE DAILY B 747-400.

I am sure they all do well.

I'm sure UA does well on the HKG flight. I wish they did still do the double daily. To see UA and CX to double daily would be a great site. Hong Kong is very strong from SFO. I'm surprised more airlines do not do it.

In-Line with Oneworld, CX focuses in LAX (double daily) and are looking into Triple daily. It is annoying that AA is part of Oneworld! I prefer UA and also SFO over AA.

LAX is a much bigger hub. I mean in general, not UA though.

HKG to SFO is generally a pretty full flight most of the year due to the very large ex-patriate Hong Kong population that lives in northern California (that includes me! Big grin ).

Indeed, that's why Singapore Airlines (SQ) designates the flight on the SIN-HKG-SFO-HKG-SIN route as SQ 001 (westbound) and SQ 002 (eastbound), mostly because it's probably the most financial lucrative flights on the entire SQ route system, even more so than the flights between SIN and LHR. Because SQ 001/002 is such a popular flight, I believe that SQ has said publicly that the A380-800 could be assigned to this route as soon as there are enough A388's delivered to the airline (my guess is that by the summer of 2006 SQ will have the A388 flying at least once a day to LHR and also flying the SQ 001/002 route).

That would be impressive to see CX doing double daily after having left SFO so many years ago. Does anyone know if it will be the 343? I would assume so given the limited number of 346s. I would imagine that they all do well on the route. I have been on the SQ and the UA services, and they have been full most of the time. One time, the HKG-SFO return flight was a little empty, but it was quite a few years ago.

Also, the UA flight from SFO does continue onto Singapore, but they also get feed from the Chicago flight, and quite a nice chunk of the flight is also people flying solely between HKG and SIN...although I am sure that SQ has the same.

It would definitely also be nice to see UA doing the double daily again from SFO and/or resuming LAX service. A quick question, I know that UA operated one morning and one early evening flight (unless it was just delayed the day that I saw it) from HKG to SFO. What about the other way? Did they have a night and a day flight from SFO to HKG?

Finally, it would be nice to see Singapore fly the A380 into SFO as I think that would be the easiest city for me to see that plane when it comes out. Plus, they could easily fill that bird.

I've taken the CX 873 in F twice and find it to be a nice flight for someone, like me, who lives on the East Coast. I can take an evening AA JFK-SFO flight and board the CX flight exhuasted (leaves at 4:30 AM East Coast time) and am ensured a nice long sleep.

I find it interesting that SFO was one of the last destinations to get the new Business Class seats (and thus StudioCX) and that it does not have its own lounge, using, instead, JAL's Sakura lounge.

If so, then probably yes...

...those A346 contraptions will be essentially dedicated to the new nonstop to New York/Kennedy.

My wife flew UA 862 today (June 15) from HKG to SFO in business class. She said every seat on the plane was full.

Same for UA 895 ORD to HKG on June 9.
