China Eastern Airlines started its non-stop SHA-YVR flight today. Its A340-600 (reg. B-6051) arrive about 1 hour late at 1330 hrs at YVR with almost a 100% load.
MU will now operate 3 times a week (Mon. Wed. Sat.) between SHA and YVR and will be using A340-600 with 3 class of service onboard.
MU's new A340-600 are equipped with flat-bed 1st class seats, and PTV on all seats. This is a far better features than AC's B767, and offers a good competition with AC on this very profitable route.

So far MU is planning o use A346 on this route. I know their GM in Canada, and he told me, the A343 will be used when A346 goes for checks for last minute movement changes due operations requirement.
I read the interior information from their promo sheet today. It is for their LAX office use, but ship up here to promo their 'change' in equipment.

Not surprising at all seeing how many new immigrants land at Vancouver, how many return to visit and those coming to visit family and friends. Not to mention there is also increase in cultural and economic ties between the two cities and countries.
I see MU doing better than AC on this route for they have a bigger network in mainland China to feed their longhauls while AC only rely on Canadian pax going to China. Thing is, I see more people from big cities in China coming to Canada than vice versa. I also think that since most passengers on this city pair would be of Chinese national, they would prefer flying their 'home' airline wouldn't they? To get the type of hospitality they are accustomed to and also some may not speak English well and prefer having more cabin crew to be speaking Mandarin. I know AC's flights have one or two Mandarin speaking attendants but this is just my 2 cents.
Glad to hear that they are operating the A346 into town while I also wouldn't mind seeing the A343s either.
Anyone have pics or more info on MU's inflight product onboard their long haul fleet - namely A343 and A346? Wouldn't mind flying them if price is decent.
