I was looking at pics of southwest airlines, I had them listed by most popular and I saw that this one had a lot of views. Maybe there's something special but I didn't see it.

Because people like you keep including it in threads.  Big grin

There was a thread the other day about -200s. That is usually good for a few hundred hits.

I started that post the other day about the 200s. But this has been a popular pic for quite some time.

Texasflyer, I have thought the same thing for so long and have never been able to get a good answer. Because that picture is the most popular one taken at my airport I have tried to find out before.

No clue why that pic is so popular, a 200? In WN original, absolutely disgusting livery? May go to ISP in a little bit to see their new terminal.

That specific aircraft doesn't appear to have any special history, oh well.

Maybe there have been a lot of posts on it so thats why it became so popular.

It is the most popular Soutwest Airlines picture.

I know the AA 757 picture was used as a HOAX picture. The others; I have no idea why they are so popular.

is so popular because it was used in the 9/11 hoax picture, so it has no doubt been linked to many times to prove that the picture was fake.

PW100 the pic of the AA 757 was used in a hoax picture related to September 11. Click on that pic and then read the comments. Lots of people from other sites were linking to that one.

For photos that don't look too special, it depends where they are posted a lot of the time. For example when photos are posted in replies to the polls.. (http://www.airliners.net/discussions/polls/)..

I posted this photo in a reply, it had about 100 views, it's now approaching 500:

Then there's photos on pages like these.. http://www.airliners.net/info/ or photos that are linked to from other sites etc. etc.  Big thumbs up

It is one of the best airplanes ever built. Why shouldn't its picture also be popular? I also own a model with that very same paint scheme. I wanted it in People's Express livery but it was not available; I live close to EWR. Think of it this way, if you had a body like that airplane, you, too would be popular. Jealous?

Depending on when the picture gets added to the DB somehow depends on it's views! If my pics are added at 11pm or a few mins b4 then they get a hell of a lot of views!!! It also depends how much they are plugged on the forums.

This all true but we are talking about hundrets of thousants of views. Only pictures of a month or so get this many views and in this high number of views, the time of date they are added doesnt make that much a different. Also you do not get 100000 views simply by putting a picture into a topic on the forum, right? The BA shots by David were the first ones of the new livery (a guess)... Big thumbs up

I still wonder why the TAP and the NW are so popular though...I always wondered why, from the first day I was on this site as they appeared on the top of all time list. They must be linked to another website...

Some of those photos are linked to a travel website. When a customer is making a reservation, they can click on the aircraft type to see a photo. Some of those are a.net links...
