An unscheduled stop doesn't mean an emergency though, which is the point I think Diesel1 was making... For example if fuel-burn is higher than expected on a flight, to the point where you will start to use your reserves en-route, then a diversion to a suitable airport will be made to uplift additional fuel.
This would be an en-route diversion, it would not be classed as an emergency landing.
Without any details it is impossible to speculate as to the nature of the diversion, emergency or otherwise.
