Just been looking

TCX234L, had to make a stop at Fort Lauderdale, FL (FLL), after departing from cancun, and now is 4 hours late.

I wonder what happened?

Topjet330

How do you know it was an 'emergency stop' ?

An unscheduled stop doesn't mean an emergency though, which is the point I think Diesel1 was making... For example if fuel-burn is higher than expected on a flight, to the point where you will start to use your reserves en-route, then a diversion to a suitable airport will be made to uplift additional fuel.

This would be an en-route diversion, it would not be classed as an emergency landing.

Without any details it is impossible to speculate as to the nature of the diversion, emergency or otherwise.

CROSSWIND
