I read yesterday in AM´s magazine that AM plans to introduce the 777 soon, along with two 767´s in November. This, on the letter from Ricardo Flores at the beginning of the magazine. I hope this becomes true, but at least it´s not a rumor anymore. Any comments?

This one is swiftly approaching "NW DC9 Replacement" status...

...but nonetheless, will be very interesting if they do indeed [finally] come through.

Well... I don't mean to be harsh but this issue has been discussed to death in still-active threads. AFAIK it will be well into 2005 when AM will receive the first (of two if my memory serves me right).

Kuddos for AM !

Well, of all the rumors floating around (MX and AM merging, MX flying to Asia and JFK with their their spanking new 340's, 6A opening up MTY-BCN, Ricardo Montaner being a good singer, me getting married, etc.) this is certainly the one closest to becoming true. Big grin

I can't wait to see a 777 in AM livery.

Want me to start talking about Estelita Nuñez, Mario Pintor, Dulce and Crystal?

I also can't wait to see an AM T7.

Is not a rumor. The board will launch the ok status very soon. Mr Flores is in the right way.

The AM 777 will look similiar to the AA 777 w/ the "Mirror Like" fuselage.
Very nice indeed...

But how is AM acquiring 777's? used or new from factory? I am yet to hear Boeing mention of any new orders from AM for 777's given that, any deliveries to AM for that matter (except 73NG'S of course!)

Are they planning on leasing some from AF or maybe taking some of DL's that have been deferred...??
I also agree they are in due time for an a/c with the 777's caliber.

It was not until few months before the delivery of the first 73NG that both Boeing and AM made an official statement. They like playing a discrete game.

Great news really. Are there any plans of including more european cities with the T7?

AM could introduce their 777 in the GRU route, just as RG did when the latest two 777 started operations for the airline!!

Great news !!!

TR763, it would be awesome to see an AM 772ER doing MEX-GRU but unfortunately that is still many, many years away. AM will likely receive only two 772ER's at first and they will both be used in the flights to MAD and CDG (especially MAD). Even as AM receives more of these birds over the next few years, they will be bound to be used initially in flights to European destinations. Perhaps an extraordinary rotation flight of a 772ER to GRU might happen during the first weeks, but they will definitely be flown to Europe on a regular basis.

In any case, AM's MEX-GRU route is getting a few more frequencies now that more 767ER's are joining the fleet, and that is also great news; I think that the goal is to finish 2004 with one daily MEX-GRU flight using mostly -200's but also -300's.

Next flights: MEX-MZT AM E90; TIJ-MEX AM 788

As Pecevanne says if no surprises AM will fly the T7 in 2005. So far I've heard about June 05.

Unfortunately no new routes. Only reinforcing presence to MAD and CDG to 14X with B767/777.

At this point in time, it is unlikely they will be new from the factory. There is an outside chance that they could lease them from ILFC. However, a much more likely scenario is (and one I heard rumored several times) is that they will lease 2 birds from their partner Air France. The other likely source is the 2 frames from Aeroflot that will be coming off lease very shortly, as Aeroflot has no intention of renewing these leases.

In case they are new I bet on ILFC leasing 2 or 3 to AM. Perhaps those two ex. AeroFlot Hamlet69 mentions are another big possibility! Other possibilities to consider is a lease from Air France and the least possible could be leasing them from DL.

...they aren't mutually exclusive; ILFC owns the two Aeroflot will be returning  Big grin

Doesn't UA have a bunch of these parked in the desert? I imagine that some deal to remove the expense from United's balance sheet and obtain fast delivery could be made.....
