I'm going spotting at SFO on Thursday, and I was wondering where the best places are to see from. My camera doesn't have much zoom, so it needs to be kind of close. I also would like to know if there's going to be anyone else out there.

Thanks in Advance!

There are numerous post regarding this if you'd do a search.

However, I'll tell you that the most well known and easiest access is Bayfront Park. This is the public park on the eastern side of rwy 1's and south of rwy 28's. However, without a good zoom (ideally 400 mm) you can't get too many good photos.

Personally I think the best SFO spotting is the San Bruno Avenue overpass over Highway 101. This is at the departure end of the 28s so all the heavies will scream right overheard. Without a decent zoom this is the best place to be. While Bayfront Park is the most popular, it is the furthest away. Some people have had luck getting up onto the roof of the rental car lot and/or the other parking structure near the Skywest Terminal which offers the same proximity as San Bruno Ave., but a better angle.

good luck!

Thanks a lot! I'll probably use the 101 spot because I got a great picture of a UA 744. I'm still trying to get it up.
