After five years the new Anchorage International Concorse C will open to the public on Wendsday.

The new facility replaces the original concorse "C" which was the only remaining part of the original terminal. The concourse has 9 gate, all of which will be used by Alaska Airlines.

The project came in at 415 million dollars, come 150 million over budget, partly due to 9/11 redesigns, and a 1 year work halt when the orignal bulding plans did not meet city earthquake codes.

L188: There was a similar thread not long ago about this. I figured you would know this: I flew thru there last week on AS, but the ANC airport people didn't seem to advertize the opening much. I fly thru there a few times a year, but other than seeing the construction, the ANC Airport didn't advertize the opening much?

Is AS the only operator in the new terminal? What improvements have they made?

Hello from MIAMI. I was wondering what commercial/passenger airlines serveAnchorage? besides Alaska.

Everytime I look at pics from that airport on here is either Alaska birds or NW/ASIAN Cargo Heavies.

Just a few would be: NW, UA, Frontier, Frontier Flying Svc., Penn Air, Era, Alaska, Continental. I'm sure I'm leaving some out.

I've seen KE operate passenger 744 there though I'm not sure if that was just a refueling stop.

Airlines currently serving Anchorage include:

Alaska
Continental
Delta
Era Aviation
Northwest
PenAir
United
American (year round service to DFW and ORD I believe)
America West
Frontier
Frontier Flying Service
Sun Country

International passenger operators include:

Air Canada
Asiana Airlines
Cathay Pacific
China Airlines (service between ANC and Taipei, Taiwan)
Condor (service between ANC and Frankfurt)
Korean Air (service to Seoul)

That's pretty much all of them. I might be leaving a few out.

Canoecarrier, are you thinking about the thread I started last year about the rail depot opening on the airport?

"...the new Anchorage International Concorse C... all of which will be used by Alaska Airlines..."

It's an international terminal? Used exclusively by Alaska? That's a waste. I don't think they fly anywhere internationally from ANC, except Canada. They sure can't make it all the way to Mexico.

No, Concourse C is not an international terminal.

All of ANC's international flights depart from the north terminal.

That's right Alaska Airlines gets exclusive use of the new terminal.

Isnt the int'l arrivals/departures at Terminal B?

As for the topic at hand, I hope to see the new terminal one of these days. The last time I was in ANC was in 2000 so its been a quite awhile.

I wish DL would move from the north terminal to the south with all the other domestic carriers. Sucks making a connection to/from AS or returning a rental car.

I'm surprised they didn't make a walkway connection between the north terminal and the new expansion.

Actually Deltaffindfw, I believe that is in the long term plans.

RIght now, Delta and Frontier are flying out of the North (International) terminal.

Which has caused some problems for passengers who have confused Frontier, with Frontier Flying Service.

One more article to add.

http://www.ktuu.com/CMS/anmviewer.asp?a=692&z=4

Seems the only major glich was two of TSA's x-ray machines crapping out. The bastards.

Well here it is the day after, It is sure different to look across to the B gates an not see any AS aircraft parked on them.

Been used to that sight for five years now.
