I am anxiously awaiting Air New Zealand's debut here in San Francisco today. I was hoping to track it, but I am confused. The flight was appearing a few hours ago as an arrival into SFO, but now I can't find it listed. I then looked at another site which lists it as arriving 2 hours late into SFO. Anyone familiar with what is happening with this flight. I would really like to know as I plan on being at SFO for its arrival. Thanks.

Michael

I presume it's gone out. It's not on the Auckland airport site anymore and theres nothing about it on the NZ site.

The flight is in a dead zone right now where ATC radar doesn't see it. That sometimes causes confusion. Its due in as Legacy said around 1151a. I saw it earlier in the HNL radar area but then hopped into the dead area again. Its ontime though!

According to the Gen Deck, the NZ 8 blocked at G93 at 1151 ( one minute behind schedule). There were 392 PAX on board. The ground reps were brought up from LAX to handel the flight. I actually got to "kick" the tires out on the AOA. Great aircraft livery.

A Belair 767 is sitting over at A10. Seasonal service until the end of september.

I don't know which one because I wasn't working at LAX today (I was in SFO for the inaugural), but one of the AKL-LAX flights today (30 June, I believe) was delayed 15 hours.

I heard that NZ chartered an ATA aircraft at LAX to get a group of 60 traveling together to the Pacific Northwest up there as they were all going to miss their connections in Los Angeles.

Cheers!

PS... GREAT INAUGURAL TODAY!  Big thumbs up I was proud to have been there to witness it.

It's an entirely different kind of flying; all together.

I'm curious about how it works with the flight crew for these flights. The crew who manned NZ8 into SFO...will they stay in SF until Friday's flight back to Auckland? Or are they working the flight back to NZ tonight? Can the same crew work two international flights like this arriving and departing in the same day?

I don't think so, They probably either stay in SFO or go up to LAX to take a flight back from there. I doubt they will go to LAX though, its only 2 nights in SFO, not a huge loss to the airline IMO

Mike77,

The crew of NZ8 will layover for two days and then crew NZ7 back to Auckland on Friday. No different to how the flights to LAX work, usually have two to three day layover.

ATA flt 6062 (a B737-800) left LAX around 0230 and arrived into EUG a bit after 0400. The a/c is ferrying back to LAX and should be "home" by 0700.

Congratulations to NZ on providing such excellent customer service.

I think the question regarding the crew is "who flew the aircraft back to New Zealand"? A crew flew in on NZ 8 but where did the crew come from to fly NZ 7 back?

They probably flew to SFO a few days earlier as PAX on a NZ flight to LAX, and then flew on to SFO.

May be a little off topic but Belair at SFO. I was at SFO on the 6/30 and saw the listing on the departure screen. Can you tell me more about this? How often do they fly into SFO?

Belair will fly into SFO from Zurich every Wednesday until the end of September. I am not sure if they are affiliated with Swiss but it is a charter. The route is Zurich - SFO- LAS- Zurich on a 767. It's nice to see the red tail w/ the white cross again. I remember when Swissair flew in their MD-11s

That is indeed what happened. They arrived about 4 days prior from what I was told. Same goes for the cabin crew.
