Developments MUST be slow at Boeing if that makes the frontpage! An individual delivery?! Great!!!

But... good news for AeroMexico - the 737 is a nice aircraft  Smile So I hope they get lots of good use out of it.

Yes... they have delivered about 2.9 airplanes per week this year... Relatively low volumes...

Good for AM!!!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy I just wish Row 1 and 6 had a different separation bulkhead (no space to put your feet!!)

funny thing that everytime AM places an order for aircraft, its all over the news (boeing website, Mexican newpapers), yet when MX has placed orders for new aircraft such as the A318, one can't find any press releases, even the Airbus website does not reflect it!..as usual the 318's will arrive with no fanfare. WHY? is their such favortism with AM?......

any comments?

Sure, I'll comment.

Boeing has a great sales and PR staff, the crew that handles the Americas work very hard to promote not only Boeing's products but those of their customers, too.

Clickhappy,

Yep you are quite right, Boeing does seem to focus heavily on 737's going South. Copa gets a huge mention every time they receive one. Airbus have started to get excited about deliveries also, mentioning China 330's and some others more recently. Guess with lack of orders; deliveries and abusing each other is in!

True! I was also going to mention CM but Col beat me. Remember also all noise Boeing made with Azteca's B737-700s.

BTW. Saw XA-HAm two days ago in Vegas! It reminded me when I first saw AAM!. Also arrival of the 8th to MEX will be next Sunday or Monday.

Hmm... They still didn't mention NZ's order.

I don't know why this 8th AM 737NG for delivery is sooo special.

Just because it's on the frontpage, you don't have to be all excited about it.

Blah!

Very easy to answer that! Boeing wants more orders for more new B737s for AeroMexico... perhaps -600s,-700s, -800s and -900s. Remember AM will have to replace 45 MD80s and a few B757-200s, which btw AM has the 5th major MD80 fleet in the world after AA, DL, AZ, and SAS. More over, a possible confirmation of new B777 could come! Least but not impossible Boeing wants AM to get the 7E7.

Yesterday, Boeing placed a picture of a brand new 737NG on its website along with a news story. Boeing confirms the delivery of all the 737's for AM by November 2004.

Since everybody its getting crazy with the arrival of AM's 8th B737 I decided to upload one of the first picture of XA-HAm to my website! Since it's not an a.net quality pic  Sad. Spotted at LAS past Monday 28th. But right now geocities page builder is out of service, so anyone who wants to have the picture, just email me and I'll send it to you!

Ghost77: I don't think the A318 is a surprise for November... I was told ASPA and ASSA (pilots' and flight attendants' labor unions) representatives were officially informed of this by Emilio Romano in a meeting three weeks ago.

CessnaLady: Yes definetly its not a surprise for August/September. Airbus 320 current line just delivered 2258 to Frontier:

http://www.skyliner-aviation.de/regdb.main,

Mexicana's first A318 its 2328!! So we might see it a few days or even a month before!!.

Or what do you mean as a surprise?

The only surprise is that Im sure delivery will be earlier... about the other 'surprise' I wish I could say a bit more, but I can't, at least not now!!

Great news! I was wondering why no new 737s had arrived.

It is obvious that the 777 is getting closer and closer to AMs fleet. I think this is great and long overdue, but I have been wondering if AM wouldn't be better off with the 7E7.

I understand the 7E7 is not in production yet and getting them would mean a wait of at least three or four years, but I think this will be the ideal aircraft for AM for the following reasons, among others:

- It will have an amazing range, which means that it can operate from MEX to most if not all European and even Asian airports without restrictions.

- It will be the most efficient and technologically advanced aircraft.

- We now know the aircraft will be produced, since it already has at least 50 orders (ANA). Worst case scenario is the aircraft is not produced in the end, and you switch your orders to 777, which by the time this happens should be an aircraft you already have on your fleet, if these strong rumors become true.

- The list price will be high, yes, but I'm sure that (i) being a launch customer will certainly cause a huge discount, and (ii) Am won't have to pay now, but only until the each plane is received (unless something out of the ordinary is agreed).

- The 7E7 is not as big as the 777, which makes it easier to fill, on the one hand, and better fore offering additional frequencies, on the other.

In conclusion, while I don't deny the urgent need for 777s for AM, I do feel the 7E7 would be a better option in the long run. But then again, the chances of a 7E7 order from AM are close to zero.

Just my 2 cents. . .

Cx340:
In fact, AM seems to me as a very possible launch costumer for one of these B739/ER, B772/LR (talking about great range) and 7E7.
Nowadays AM is very close to Boeing and since they are desesperate for keeping all those costumers that from the 732/733/734/735 went to the A320 and from the DC10/MD11/B767 went directly to the A330/340, maybe they are going to make a good deal to get such magnificient a/c... Lets wait and see.

Regards

A-318 will be in the fleet in November.
By march Mexicana will have 6 of them.
