Hey Scotty,

Thanks for sharing our wonderful news!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy We're happy to keep on adding these new buses! Big grin

Solnabo:

We have three more delieveries planned for this year: 2 A319's and one A318 (hopefully we'll order more!).  Smile I also believe we are expecting 13 A319's next year. Our fleet plan says we are expecting three A318's next year, but I understand that the next A318 delivery is our last on one on order (MSYTristar, Frntman, and Mariner can help me out here).

The new critters look awesome I must say!

Anyone have any idea or clue if F9 will have another horse (mustang) on the tail? Also, did the horse have a name, like the other critters do? Only horse I've ever saw was on N302, a 737-300 that F9 had when I was with them. Regards.

AirplaneBoy:

That's an odd and interesting little snippet about the 3 x A318.

When Frontier singed the latest contract with Airbus, it was a condition of the contract that they must, in addition, also lease 3 x 319 or 3 x A320 from a third party lessor - not Airbus.

There was a lot of talk that Frontier might order the A320 - they have the right to change any of the new A319 to A320 as long as they tell Airbus by the end of this year.

Since then, the CEO has said that the fleet will continue to be a mix of A318 and A319.

So it is possible they've changed their minds about getting A320's, and the three extra aircraft they must lease will be A318's.

Just a guess.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

cheers

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but what are the routes justify the A320? DEN-LAX?

The first thing I thought of when I heard this news is where will they fly them.

After the coming reduction in LAX flying and Horizon adding more CRJ7s, will we see a new city (in additon to LIT)?

Thats alot of capacity being introduced or moved around for a little airline.

Atcboy73:

Are you sure Horizon is adding more CR7's? The fleet is nine, and Frontier's most recent SEC filing said they weren't planning to increase that yet.

Some of the new A319's (and the A318's) will replace 737's. Some will be put on the new routes:

AUS/CUN and BNA/CUN were approved today. Frontier is still waiting to hear if they will get STL/CUN.

Will there be more new cities? They said no, but then they added LIT.

Those of us who follow the airline are expecting more "connecting the dots" - flying point to point between cities that Frontier already serves, instead of going through Denver.

They've also said to expect more Mexico flights.

cheers

I believe F9 has applied for more scheduled slots out of Denver to Cancun and possibly elsewhere in Mexico. I know Allegiant Air has applied for Denver-Cancun as well.

I'm pretty sure all the critters are named but I have no idea what the Mustang is. Photographer Tim Samples refers to it as the "Stallion".

Hi everybody,

Frontier hasn't signed any contract to lease or buy the larger A320 yet. This is the delivery schedule for the rest of the year:
  • A318-111 N807FR (c/n 2276; D-AUAC) in September
  • A319-111 N934FR (c/n 2287; D-AVYV) in September

Hi All,
Frontier will deliver 3 more this year, 2-319's and one 318, the last in October(you missed MSN 2318/N935FR, Frank). We have 8 confirmed on schedule next year so far, all 319 (and NO A320's), though I expect this number will increase. The A320 just doesn't offer what we're looking for right now. This could change of course, but I don't see it in the near future. I'm waiting to see more fish on the tails, and for Mariner some cockatoo's and flamingos!!

Jetmek319,

looking at your occupation you look like a more reliable source than my list!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
My list previously showed c/n 2318 as not assigned, so here is the correction:
  • A318-111 N807FR (c/n 2276; D-AUAC) in September
  • A319-111 N934FR (c/n 2287; D-AVYV) in September
  • A319-111 N335FR (c/n 2318; D-AV**) in October

Thanks for the information, Jetmek319!

I'm sorry if this is stupid but is F9 aiming to become an all airbus airline? And if so how many of each a/c do they have? And if they have 737 a/c that they are getting rid of they can just re-use the animals on those tails...

JetMek:

I'm sure you know that AUS/CUN and BNA/CUN have been approved. Hopefully, STL/CUN will be approved as well.

Even so, Frontier will have more destinations from Cancun than it does from LAX.

I think it is time one or two of those cockatoo's or flamingo's turned up!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

cheers
