I second the reccomendation above.. I do this route (or ones like it) several times a year (50% in Y, 50% in C) and have to say that flying up top is probably the best way to go, it's a smaller, more intimate cabin than the main deck downstairs.. I've flown 1A before from DTW-NRT and while the sensation of being at the "front" of the plane was pretty cool, other than that it was nothing special compared with the other WBC seats..

The lower front cabin is nice, too. There are only 4 rows, the first 3 have no middle seats as the side seats converge. Row 4 has 2-2-2 configuration, and a bulkhead behind it (but the seat reclines OK). E and F are in the center. Let's see if I can find a picture. But first, you need to consult this ....
